I gave five stars because of the incredible history and the abundance of knowledge. But in my opinion, Cartagena in general is not prepared to receive tourists when it comes to the enormous challenging issues with healthy food, Bocagrande beaches, local transportation, electric power and infrastructure. I urge all tourists NOT to eat on the street but in the restaurants. I have and continue to travel around the world but actually I live for at least a year on the places I write about. The prices are NOT commensurate with the quality and services provided. They charge you en Dollars but the quality and service is in pesos, despite of the cheap prices. In my opinion Cartagena in it's current condition is not a go, but this is my personal opinion only. At night it becomes a hot spot for a pretty active night life which can be super fun. One interesting fact I learned on a tour is that he was able to establish the city with India Catalina, an indigenous woman who was kidnapped as a child by the Spanish colonizers.
