Amazing location, and the hostel itself looks really nice. But there's a lack of a social vibe due to no air conditioned common spaces that aren't the restaurant.

This is more of a restaurant/rooftop bar that happens to have dorm rooms.

I stayed for almost a week and although the team there seemed very close knit with each other, I never had any of the staff talk to me really and I spent a lot of time near them as I worked in the co-working room, which is basically the staff room and for some reason always has mosquitos in it, it's not a great co-working location, the internet is fast but tends to cut in and out.

The beds and capsules are very spacious and comfortable, but room 203 has shower drainage issues so there was always a pool of water in the bathroom which was a major safety hazard everyday. Try going to the bathroom at 3am and almost slipping every time. The maintenance crew left a giant 2.5m tall ladder in our doorways for over 24 hours with no explanation and seemed to issue forget about it, and was causing issues getting into the bathroom and exiting the room. I asked for it to be removed and no one got to it until the next day.

The aircon can't be controlled during daytime hours which can be annoying because you can't even relax in the room comfortably during the day. I think the lack of ventilation in the day causes some mold issues, you can smell it when you enter the room.

I have to say though that the food at this place is great, real Neapolitan style oven pizza. The rooftop bar also has a nice vibe.

If you ask for help with things staff will assist but the service often feels cold. I really wanted to love it but the place, does need some maintenance.

You do get what you pay for though, and this was very good value for the location still, despite the...

This hotel/hostel looks great in pictures but in practice it’s extremely subpar, which is honestly really sad because it has so much potential. I think it’s the management and their poor “policies” and harsh treatment of their staff (causing staff to be extremely strict and uptight) that makes the experience here inconvenient and uncomfortable, rather than fun and bright as it looks in the pictures. There’s no energy or vibe here - it’s very supressed .

We personally booked this place for the boutique vibe and fun look. We booked a dorm to be able to socialize and have a comfy place to rest. But it was neither of those things. One of their “policies” is to turn the air conditioning off at 9am in a room FULL of people - no explanation, just policy. In Cartagena a lot of us in the dorm were here for a festival which went late, and of course it gets HOT in the day, leaving the room unbearable in the day (while private rooms with 1-2 people can use their AC). I have stayed in hundreds of hostels and not encountered this. Meanwhile everything is expensive, from the drinks to the food to the dorms themselves, but their excuse is “it’s a hostel” while charging $15 USD for a gin and tonic. They have a pool on the ground floor, but refuse to allow you to exit the hotel thru the reception area (a few seconds walk) in a swimsuit during the daytime because of their pizza restaurant…. in a beach destination where people walk around in swimsuits anyway.

They attract their clientele with neon signs and colorful walls but the personality of the place is the exact opposite of the vibrancy of its decor. A real shame. Just go to Selina (air conditioned 24/7 and...

I am deeply outraged and thoroughly dissatisfied with the attitude and actions of Hostel Casa Movida.

I arrived at the hostel around 10 a.m. on my check-in day. After completing all the necessary administrative procedures and making the payment, the clerk informed me that I could access my room at 3 p.m. but could leave my luggage in their storage room until then. Following this, I left my suitcase and backpack in the designated room and went out for a tour. When I returned around 4:30 p.m., I approached the clerk to retrieve my belongings, only to be shocked to find the luggage room empty.

After a frantic search, we returned to the front desk and discovered that both my carry-on and backpack had been placed with a large group’s luggage. This group had already checked out and was awaiting transportation. They had mistakenly taken my belongings, and had I not returned before their departure, they would have left with my things.

This incident demonstrates the hostel's complete lack of supervision over my property. I spoke to the manager, insisting she call the police, but she simply stood there, offering nothing more than an empty apology. To add insult to injury, while I was still there, I saw one of the group members carrying another piece of luggage back inside, clearly showing they had taken someone else’s belongings as well.

This is an outrageous and irresponsible establishment. Do not stay here. They do not care about your belongings. To top it off, when I finally went to my room, it was unbearably hot, with no air conditioning. I checked out immediately and demanded a refund.

Stay far away...

3,5 stars Had some positive and negative experiences here so I’ll describe them both. Positive things: - Beautiful looking hostel - Very spacious dorm with comfortable beds with a lot of room to put your stuff and plenty of privacy - The staff at the reception was nice and helpful and spoke English quite well, the breakfast was decent and the breakfast ladies were nice, half of the restaurant staff was attentive and nice, food at the restaurant was really good - Cute little pool and a nice restaurant Negative sides: - As I mentioned half of the waitresses at the restaurant I dealt with were nice, but one of them just ignored me (on the evening of the 23rd) when I sat down, spent 10 minutes talking and laughing with the chef instead, so I left to another restaurant. Then in the afternoon on the 24th I encountered the rudest and most uninterested waitress I have ever met in my life, service really couldn’t have been worse. I was ignored several times, she never said a word to me or smiled, she just walked around looking absolutely miserable. - The other guests in the dorm didn’t seem to have an understanding of what is normal behavior in a shared space. The first night I was awoken at 12 am by people loudly talking, then at 06:30 again by people talking while packing their stuff. The next night I was awoken at 03:30 by people loudly talking and one woman having a phone conversation in the bed next to me. If I were the owner/staff I would make sure to explain to guests what the expected behavior in the dorm is and to be very clear when explaining about quiet times etc. Also, I would talk to that one waitress.

I liked everything about this hostel. The staff was super accommodating and kind. The staff spoke English and Spanish. The place is very unique. The rooftop bar is also great. Breakfast was included with coffee. The staff provided laundry services for a small fee. They give you a laundry bag and you fill it up. They charge per bag. They even asked if we wanted our clothes folded. The room was clean, the shower had shampoo and body wash, and the water was super hot. At night, for extra security, they close the main door and you just need to knock on the door. Each guest is given a wristband for security. This hostel also has a pizza restaurant (Mama's Kitchen) on the first floor. There is also a full kitchen open to guests to use if you would like to prepare and cook your own food. Right near this hostel are several great bars and clubs for a pleasant nightlife. The staff scheduled a nurse to come to the hostel to provide COVID testing which was quick and easy. 100% recommend anyone traveling to Cartagena to stay here for a night or several!
