My husband and I travel a lot. We love colonial cities in Central and South America. This was the best colonial hotel we have ever stayed at. The room at first seemed small but it was just the two of us and it was also so clean and charming. We then left to head to Isla Baru for two days. We came back to the same place but got a suite. The suites are much larger and are probably worth the money. Either way, absolutely delightful! They kept our luggage while we went to the island. The breakfast was so so good. The decor was perfect. My husband took a dip in the pool everyday while I took a shower and got ready for our evening. The location is the best!!! You literally walk outside to everything you could need. The hotel does not have a bar or restaurant but there are so many within walking distance that you don’t need one. The clock tower plaza is like a 1 minute walk. I read some people complain about the noise. This is honestly part of the Cartagena atmosphere. If noise bothers you, find a different city! The best part about this hotel is the kindness of the staff. Diana speaks perfect English and was a huge help in so many ways. They all smile a lot. They are eager to help. In cases where language was a barrier, we just used Google translate. When we went to leave we were sad because we had the best experience ever and loved it so much! Till next time Hotel Boutique...
Read moreVery nice hotel in a fantastic location. We stayed on a Saturday night and this place is right in the middle of the bustling night life. Despite this you can still get off to sleep without the noise keeping you awake. The room was very clean and comfortable, the air con worked very well and the water in the bathroom was hot. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Lionel in particular was really helpful and spoke very good English as did other staff members. The included breakfast was very good with a good range of choices. Breakfast is served in the lovely courtyard in the middle although I am unsure of what happens if it rains? The place is very secure as you have to buzz in from the street. They allow you to leave luggage if you arrive early or check out early and want to go for a wander around. They put tags on your left items and store them at the manned check in desk. The desk is manned 24/7 to allow for buzzing in guests etc. The pool is not full size but is a nice place for a quick dip to cool down and is on the roof top. It doesn’t have a great view as it is amongst a collection of rooms and other tall buildings. The prices are reasonable and I would highly...
Read moreWe stayed in five hotels across Colombia and ten across the americas. This one was the second most expensive but the least impressive.
The room we had was spacious, yet had NO WINDOWS, which was quite claustrophobic although neither my partner nor myself have such phobia. We asked for an alternative room, however, the one they offered us was too small, so we were stuck with the window-less room for 3 nights. Having a room without a window should be disclosed clearly when booking the room. This is not something that I was at the look out for when booking a hotel with such price.
Also, the hotel staff NOT THE MOST WELCOMING. In other hotels we were often greeted with a smile or hello when passing by hotel staff but that wasn’t the case in this hotel. I am not being too picky here but it’s important to feel welcomed, especially when on vacation.
The breakfast is also average, but not a big deal.
In a nutshell, value for money is pretty low here specially with a city like Cartagena where you have better options. On our way back from Baru island, we stayed in another hotel for half the price and...
