Donde Fidel Salsa Bar — Restaurant in Cartagena

Update: Monday night, all the other salsa places were closed, so we broke down and visited Donde Fidel. We spent our time in the 2 rooms toward the end. Though the doors were open, it was easy finding a blast of cold air. The walls are covered with photos of every salsa star you've ever heard of.. And many that you haven't. Being a slow Monday, we were some of the few dancers, dancing in the Isles between the tables. Our waiter was excellent and found me a very reasonably-priced rum that was very smooth. For a small place with some history to do a little dancing on Monday night, it is ok. But there are a lot better places with live music for Thurs-Sat. I'll let my initial review stand and give them another star.

A lot of nothing. No live music. Bar is split into 4 tiny rooms, DJ music is ok, but I expect live music & a dance floor. Squeezing between the tables is no way to salsa. The plaza outside the bar isn't connected, with a street between. Follow the Wall for live music...

Para hablar del bar que todos conocemos “Donde Fidel” debemos primero ubicarnos en que parte del centro histórico se encuentra y qué representa este bar dentro de la cultura cartagenera y de su reconocido dueño Fidel Leottau. Este bar esta ubicado en el portal de los dulces, un lugar emblemático del centro histórico y conocido porque la alegría esta en cada cara y dentro de este lugar la alegría no solo se siente si no también se come y se vive, gracias a toda clase de manjares que ofrecen los artesanos del dulce. Como dato importante el Bar de Fidel está ubicado a muy pocos metros de la torre del reloj, entrada principal de la ciudad amurallada. Este bar es un homenaje a la música salsa y está muy cerca de cumplir cuarenta años en esta misión. Fidel Leottau, su propietario, ha recibido en su bar a muchas personalidades de este tipo de género, pero también políticos y personajes de la farándula. El lugar esta conformado por tres locales y la zona exterior de mesas. Debido a mis gustos yo prefiero el área exterior donde puedo conversar y admirar el movimiento de la plaza que cuando cae la tarde comienza a cobrar vida y llenarse de ciertos matices que tal vez la sociedades conservadoras de Cartagena no quieran tener como vecinas, por eso les recomiendo que para disfrutarse el Bar de Fidel vayan con actitud bohemia, la mente abierta y libre de bisagras oxidadas que les puedan incomodar el rato. Ahora concentrémonos en lo que ofrece el bar en la actualidad. La oferta de licores es igual al de una tienda de barrio que tiene un inventario amplio de toda clase de aguardientes, rones, whisky, cervezas y hasta la carta ofrece champaña pero podría decir que la mayoría de los visitantes van por una o dos cervezas porque después de una hora el lugar se vuelve monótono y aunque parezca increíble la triste historia que viven las de el lado es muy parecida a la historia actual de este bar y creo que si tanto ellas como Fidel no se reinventan van a desaparecer. Hoy vale la pena pasar, tomarse una cerveza, tomarse una foto dentro del bar y colocarlo en mi galería de sitios visitados porque aunque Alquímico sea el sitio de las nuevas generaciones, nunca podremos olvidar que el Bar de Fidel estuvo vigente y marcó a una generación que entró por las puertas de la torre del reloj, visitó el Bar y provocó grandes experiencias que hoy en día son grandes reminiscencias. Antes de concluir esta reseña quiero abrir una pregunta: ¿cómo hace Fidel Leottau para opacar a su vecino el Hard Rock Café? En estos tiempos de tantas diferencias y de tantas guerras por tener la razón, creo que lo único que hace falta para que la gente distinta se lleve bien es un interés en común y unas cuantas cervezas y Fidel Leottau sabe muy bien de lo valiosa que es una cerveza para aclarar las...

They only accept cash, you hand a real bill to a waiter, he then switches the bill for a false bill and hands the false bill to the second waiter, the second waiter brings it to you and presents as a false bill and tells you that you gave a false bill. When you argue that the bills came from a bank ATM machine, they try to tell you that the ATMs give out false bills.

You then have to give them another bill for payment and they keep the real bill that tgey switched for the false one. Truly the lowest form of human, thieves.
