Plaza San Juan Shopping Center — Attraction in Higüey

This is more of a shopping center for locals. It does contain the Caribbean Cinemas at one end and IKEA at the other end. In between are a variety of stores that are delivery stores or craft supplies (although the craft supply store has some really cool backpacks for elementary school kids!). There are 2 shops in it if you're a tourist - one selling women's clothing and the other selling tourist stuff - both have prices in USD so you can get better deals elsewhere. There's a Puma store located in the parking lot as well.

There is probably the largest and nicest grocery store in Punta Cana located next to the IKEA so if you need groceries and want a large selection think about taking an Uber to the grocery store!

It was my first time visit this shopping center. Overall it is safe and can walk around without any problem. There are security there so you feel a bit more safe. There a few shop hear and a mall which we like a little better because it got AC in and you can explore. Next door to the mall is Jumbo which is a grocery place that you can get really good local fruits that is really fresh. It totally worth the visit. It cost us only $10 for taxi driver to go there and $10 back. We ask our taxi driver to wait for us and we pay him after he drop us off at the hotel. Would have given 4 stars, but there was one particular vendor that caused the entire venue to miss out. Hopefully the other vendors outside the shopping center can help him develop his sales skills. With that said, I found it both humbling and refreshing to speak with more locals. If you're American, haggle with the store owners outside the marketplace bc they will come down on just about everything multiple times ESPECIALLY before your bus leaves if coming from a resort in the area!
