Tourist trap 100%. The museum visit is very fast, maybe 10-15 min, and then there is a shop at the end. Everything is overpriced. They were asking 100 US for a ring and I managed to get it for 65 US which is the price for a nice ring at the airport ( I only found out on my way back home of course). But a little stone fell the same day or maybe I even bought it like that. Anyways, didn't have time to go back and replace it. So the jewelery is not the best quality. They also ask unbelievable prices for the Mamajuana. We bought a bottle at 25US and we found the same thing at the airport for 15US. Basicaly, if you want to buy alchohol, I suggest you wait to get to the Dutyfree because you have a nice selection of rhums and the price is probably better then in the shops. I'm adding the photo with the Mamajuana price from the airport...
Read more12/6/22— this was my second time here . I was here in August 2022. I bought a really cool ring there with amber on one side and the other Larimar stone . It’s a small museum . I took my step kids here and on of their friends. They loved it . Ramon our guide (who was also my guide on the first visit ) was very nice . Always courteous . Now they have cigar making there too. Right next door is the chocolate factory also small . Really quick tour. It’s not a tourist trap. Get in and out . If you don’t want to buy anything don’t buy it. Just be nice about it . Give the Guide a tip . I see some people at this places that don’t know how to say no nicely . This place It is so small gives you time to cover more places within the vicinity. Didn’t take too many pics...
Read moreFun tour and very informative if you haven't already discovered the joy of larimar and amber. Offered in both English and Spanish, if you like a cigar, a sample of a locally made is offered and they are for sale as well. Also included a traditional mamajuana explanation and tasting. Good combo of roots, spices, red wine, rum and honey were balanced. Some fun trinkets and coffee mugs, lots of jewelry available, some quite stunning. We bought a couple items and paid 500 DR pesos for the 15min-ish tour. Next day we came back with the family in tow, cruise ship was in and the whole town was a bit crazy packed with people! Tour wait was negligible and we had a good time on the...
