I arrived in Ethiopia on June 22 as a member of an American humanitarian and literacy mission group. Our work focused primarily on a school in the rural mountains in South Central Ethiopia, but also included a couple of orphanages. Ermias Ketema of Stunning Ethiopia Tours was an essential and significant member of our team as guide and interpreter. He made himself available at any hour for educational tours, nighttime entertainment and unique cultural experiences. His witty, self-deprecating humor made the necessary long mission drives a delight that I actually looked forward to by the end of the trip. I laughed... a lot. But what was truly exceptional was the commitment and personal contribution that Ermias made in the trip's objectives. He was an active participate in the mission work when other guides (from another company) were merely drivers/observers. He was a vocal advocate, as well as compassionate playmate for the children/students. He invested his time, his passion and his skills to assist his people. Many times I watched as he took the remainder of his meal to share with those who were hungry or give of his wages to those in need. I greatly admired his integrity and work ethic. The trip was life changing for me, and Ermias was a significant part of that experience.

My partner and I were traveling after our Peace Corps service and Ermias' company was recommended to us by a work colleague. It was the best thing that could have happened! He was so welcoming and helpful even though everything we planned was very last minute. It felt like being greeted by a close friend when he picked us up at the airport and we definitely said farewell to a friend as he dropped us off at the airport. (speaking of airports - if you're doing a lot of traveling in Ethiopia - make sure you use Ethiopian Airlines to fly into or out of the country because you then get 50% off in-country flights which will help you to see more of the country!)

Ermias is professional, kind and energetic as a tour guide and organizer of trips. We did the Danakil Depression, the rock churches of Tigray and some time in Addis Ababa and Ermias arranged transport in between every piece of it. If you are planning a trip last minute and want to do lots of pieces - Ermias will make it happen for you no stress. the drivers and tour guides that Ermias arranged for each experience were excellent and professional - especially in the Rock Churches of Tigray - if you go, make sure your ask for Abel!

Overall the trip was fun and flexible - we absolutely will come back to Ethiopia and we will definitely book through Stunning Ethiopia again! We can't wait to be back to spend time with Ermias and the rest of his crew.

I really cannot say enough good things about travelling with Stunning Ethiopia, and really I am not exaggerating when I say we were completely spoiled during our trip. Ermias checked in with us daily, and somehow managed to organize everything we asked for or wanted, even with little notice. He is a blast to hang out with, and each time we went out with him it was easy, comfortable, and memorable. He is warm and accommodating, pays attention to detail and goes out of his way to have everything work out. He truly is invested in making sure you have the best trip possible, and frankly I'm going to miss this level of care on all future trips! Everything was easy and Ermias and his employees made it possible for us to completely relax, knowing that everything was taken care of. I cannot speak highly enough about this trip and that is largely due to the professionalism and fun that Stunning Ethiopia and Ermias brought to it! I can't wait to come back and will forever encourage everyone I know to travel with Ermias and check Ethiopia out (what an unbelievably diverse, stunning, and memorable country). Highly recommend the usual South and North tours (both incredible beyond words), but also Harar (phenomenal), the Rock churches of Tigray (breath-taking), the Danakil (other worldly), and hot air ballooning on the outskirts of Addis at sunrise.
