Visiting this museum is completely waste of your time. Don't expect to learn anything about beautiful Finnish architecture here. Any information of Jugend style or Finnish architectural master pieces such as Helsinki Railway station or Helsinki Catheral in completely missing. Also well known Scandinavian gems from beautiful modern architecture such as Löyly or Oodi buildings are not even mentioned. Currently, there is a strong focus on depressing concrete apartment buildings in temporary exhibition and the permanent exhibition has focus how the last hundred years practicality overshadows the beauty in modern architecture. If you are into Finnish architecture you learn more just walking...

A very intimate and focused museum with about half of its floorspace currently given over to Wivi Lonn, a notable female Finnish architect influential in helping women to attain recognition in the field. Great details, but a strange absence of information both on timeframes post-1970 and much of any mention of the looming presence in the room, Alvar Aalto. I know there are other museums for that, maybe it's a bit overplayed, but I'm very excited for the upcoming expansion of this museum (and apparently combining it with the nearby design museum). I think more could be done, but what's here...

Relatively small but nice museum. It consists of two floors. One for temporary exhibition and one the permanent one. The permanent is dedicated to the architecture of Finland from 20th century and afterwards. The temporary exhibition nowadays is dedicated to women architectures. You can check everything in no more than 1 hour. It is better to visit together with Design Museum which lays just next corner. The future plan is to combine the two museums in one building, but this will be decided on 2023.

Save 20€ and just buy a book. The entire permanent exhibit is just one room with three walls of photos and text and a few models. We read other reviews and thought ‘it can’t be that bad.’ It is. If you still want to support them just make a donation to the new museum they are building across town. But until that opens, don’t bother with this.

This is an addition to my review of the Design Museum. The ticket price is €20 for both museums. But to be honest, there’s not much to see in the Architecture Museum—just a lot of historical descriptions about how architecture developed from 1910 to 2000, which I could easily find online. So, even for two museums, €20 feels too expensive.
