UPDATE: BED BUGS!!!
We suspect that the reason the staff ignored the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door and serviced our room anyway is because they knew they had a problem with bed bugs and were trying to hide the evidence. We both came home with red, itchy bumps on our skin and are pretty sure it’s bed bugs. We haven’t seen any bugs in our house and are hoping against hope that we didn’t bring any pests home with us. I’ll update this review again if we find evidence of bed bugs in our home.
ORIGINAL POST: Our room was clean, but the mattress was hard as a rock. The general vibe of the public areas is “run-down and in need of updates.” The walls are paper-thin and we could hear every word our neighbors said (and they were very chatty). The €14 breakfast buffet was lackluster, you get better value for your money finding a cafe that has a petit dejeuner for around the same price.
Our primary - and serious, deal-breaker - complaint about the hotel was that the staff totally ignored the “Do Not Disturb” sign we left on the door. They serviced our room and placed the sign on the desk, making it clear that they’d seen it, they just didn’t care. They had signs up asking us to hang towels we planned to reuse and they ignored that too, replacing all of the towels every day. When we brought this up to the front desk attendant upon checkout, he said we should have informed the desk that we didn’t want the room serviced, that the staff was trained to err on the side of caution. Basically, we were told it was our fault. Two thumbs down on that encounter.
We chose this hotel because it was near a museum we planned to visit, but we wished we had instead chosen a hotel in a more appealing neighborhood. The big plus was the Metro Station very close by.
Overall, it was a clean room for a very low price. Be warned: You get what...
Read moreStaffs were nice, friendly but not easy English speakers. Room was small, yet comfortable and clean. You can only use iron downstairs in the toilet room. There wasn’t any water heater/boiler in the room (which is very basic) just in case you wish to drink coffee or green tea. When I requested they arranged a hot water jug, though it was possible only during the breakfast time when kitchen was open. Asked for quiet room while booking, got a room at the ground floor facing the street. In the room there was a locker which is separately chargeable (again basic service). Breakfast is costly, I skipped because I wanted to try local cousins outside and hotel was not having any special breakfast. During checkout they asked us to pay for breakfasts for all day while we didn’t had any single day. This got resolved immediately but it’s not nice to have discussions over such service which you didn’t avail. At the end when asked for full invoice they said Hotel can’t provide the invoice as we booked through the aggregator hotel booking portal and paid them, hotel issued only the partial invoice for the money we paid directly to Hotel. After few call and discussion they finally provided the receipt. Location, free storage service, cleanliness and staffs are the big pro. Overall recommend....
Read moreWe booked the hotel through the hotel website. Check-in, payment facilitation, breakfast, and room conditions were all good. However, we faced issues with the minibar usage. Without knowing that the water bottles in the minibar were chargeable, we initially used them. Once we realized that the hotel charges for water, we stopped using them. Despite that, we were further charged for water bottles we never consumed.||||The management counted empty bottles in the bin as minibar usage, which is unreasonable, because similar water bottles that we had purchased outside (same label) were also included in the bill.||||Additionally, although we booked different types of rooms (e.g., standard and superior), we were eventually given the same type of room (most likely the standard type). This feels unfair and exploitative...
