Safari Tours — Attraction in Beaune

During our April 2025 visit to Beaune we engaged Safari tours at the recommendation of our host. Our vineyard and tasting room tour experience exceeded our expectations! We were guided by the incredibly knowledgeable Thomas who had a infinite store of knowledge about the area's history, the many aspects of Burgundian wine culture and interspersed good humor with congenially answering our questions on everything wine.

We were picked up right on time at our doorstep. We took a short but scenic drive from Beaune to Nuits St George during which we stopped at a beautiful point to take in the vineyards view and hear about the old vines and some of the families who have multi-generational presence in the area's wine industry. We continued on through beautiful, charming villages stopping at two wineries for generous tastings.

What a privilege it was to have Thomas as our guide on our full day private tour of Burgundy. Passionate, knowledgeable, professional and friendly.

Thomas’s knowledge of Burgundy and wines was truly remarkable. He drove us through different vineyards (including all the must-see big names), and as we went along, he explained the subtleties of the terroir and climates and why that composition produces the special wines that it does. We asked many questions during the day and Thomas answered each one in detail with enthusiasm and passion.

We tasted around 20 wines and enjoyed the blind tasting challenge that Thomas proposed to try and guess what village the wine came from after what we had learnt earlier.

Thomas also gave us advice about good value bottles to buy, which was really appreciated.

Our lunch stop at the restaurant was also fantastic - traditional Burgundy cuisine, and was filled with local families (always a good sign).

Overall, a wonderful, special and unforgettable experience. We will be recommending this tour...

We recently went on an amazing private wine tour with Safari Tours in Beaune and it was absolutely incredible. We were extremely fortunate to have Thomas as our driver and guide. I can only speak great things of Thomas as he was an outstanding guide. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable about the region, its wines and producers but also kind and super easy to engage with throughout the tour. The schedule was well thought out and were able to taste some amazing wines. The lunch was really nice and exactly what we were after; a local traditional meal that was spot on.
