Rudest treatment ever. Lame bout tour. Avoid.
I asked the lady in the photo if this was the boat we were meant to get on for our tour. She confirmed but told us to get individual tickets using our receipt which entailed going back to the long queue after we paid paid several hours earlier(what kind of system is this?).
She told us to just get on the boat while one us got the individual tickets. She then proceeded to tell us we were on the wrong boat (they had 2 boats doing the exact same tour) and also told us off for getting on the boat without a ticket (even though she told us to do this and didn’t warn us there was more than one boat). But she let us stay on the boat.
One of us later asked if they sold water on the boat (as one of the other boats did). She proceeded to repeat the same complaints.
They should really vet their staff for mental health conditions as this woman is very disturbed and is extremely rude to customers.
We tried to enjoy the tour despite this but it was so boring (9 Calanques is too many). The only positive is that I had a nice nap.
I would recommend people hike to the Calanques instead. It will be much more interesting and you can use the money you save to buy yourself...
Read moreI did the boat tour of 1.20 h visiting 5 calanques and really enjoyed the environment. You can book the tour on the day (not in advance) and should think about whether you want to go for a swim (40€ per Person) or do the tour where you stay on the boat the entire time (in the case of 1.20 h tour 25€ per Person). I would recommend to spend some more and go for a swim in the different calanques since during summer it is very hot and from cassis it’s only possible to visit those beaches by foot (45 min hike to the first beach) or by car (it is said tho that there are not many parking spots). I got the tickets early in the morning and returned to the port some hours later - here you’ll have to go to the cashiers again to let them scan your ticket and ask for the number of the pier since no one tells you this in advance (least of all in english). I can only speak of my experience but very few people speak English and also the tour guide will speak about the calanques only in French! That was a pity indeed but I still recommend to go see those beautiful cliffs...
Read moreA boat trip to the Cassis Calanques is a fun thing to do. We tried booking online but found it quite confusing, so we just took our chances, and a picturesque half- hour bus ride from Marseille to the top of the town. A downhill walk past the Mimosa car park and you’re in the pretty town of Cassis and soon quayside. We needn’t have worried. There was an official ticket office with a very simple offer: 1 hour = 3 Calanques, 2 hours for 5, 3 for 7. We bought two tickets at £36 for a 1 hour trip, which turned out to be just right for us as we didn’t want to swim. As we’d got there early for a 10.30am start there were only ten people on board. So we got shady seats which was important. Obviously we can look it up, but with 20:20 hindsight it would have been good to have an English-speaking Captain to talk Decided about...
