Was recommended by our Airbnb host to go to Chez Julien across the street, but it was closed for a private event.
Decided to head next door to Louis Philippe Cafe Restaurant, which was the first step towards a terrible decision. Do not let it’s charming appearance deceive you, avoid this place at all costs!
The entrecote (steak) was similar to boot leather of something that they would use to make dog food. The Blanquette de Veau (veal) must have been the toughest calf on the block, and the wine was similar to something you’d use to disinfect a countertop. Obviously pre-cooked and microwaved as the order was brought to the table in a matter of minutes and varied in temperature with each bite, the chef apparently isn’t aware the flavour exists.
Terrible food, terrible service, and terrible price. If you like subpar pub quality food disguised as french cuisine this is the place for you. Otherwise, literally anywhere else would be a...
Read moreA superb, classic Parisian cafe/brasserie with a lovely site adjacent to the Quai d'Orleans. Historic interior features a gorgeous wrought iron spiral staircase de l'epoque--Eiffel himself may have installed it! Impeccable service from polite welcome through our entire evening meal from an attentive, swift, and precise wait staff. Perfect preparations of French classic restaurant dishes including superb braised and oven-glazed leeks, a distinguished boeuf Bourguignon, super-fine steak tartare, and an array of perfectly prepared sea and shellfish with a notable scallop risotto. Always check the chalkboards for daily specials at lunch and dinner. Text there only in French so if you're just monophonic in some tongue other than French, bring your dictionaries or phone translation apps. Great bar here, too, with decent, tasty cocktails and all the best French aperos--good, very fairly priced wine list as well. In this riverine part of Paris? Then stop in for a hearty meal and polished service! You'll leave well served...
Read moreWas there for lunch with 4 friends and the waiter was really rude and didn’t want to be there. Not helpful with the questions about the menu or any desire to work. After ordering food, from the 4 of us only one dish was good, the rest tasteless. I ordered a “Fois Gras” that’s was not very good and when I explained to the waiter after eating half of it and asking my friends to taste too that didn’t taste much like Fois Gras , he replied that I have eaten half of it and he couldn’t change for anything else at the point: I told him that I was we not asking for that but would like to express my opinion and he was arrogant and condescending. When we went to pay I spoke to the lady at the cash register and explained what happened, not an apology but a comment saying that I did not know how to eat Fois Gras since I drank with a soda. I ordered wine with my meal and not soda. She was also rude and condescending. Not a good experience in this place at all. Don’t spend your...
