Capitol Theater — Attraction in Dusseldorf

With only one experience, I feel a bit inadequate to rate something like the Capitol Theater. It was clean, organized, a plethora of places to stand and get drinks, if you wanted to arrive early to chat with friends. We saw "West Side Story", and we're very pleased! Even though the theater is fairly large, it's still a great size to still feel "intimate". The crew working at the theater all seemed to be knowledgeable and helpful, if we asked something. I think our single complaint, if we had to come up with something, would be that, while checking jackets and purse was announced on the loudspeakers to be required to check in at the cost check, in case of a fire. But it definitely didn't seem to be enforced in any way.

Das Musical Cats war top. Alles andere war eher "suboptimal" Weder auf der Webseite noch auf den Tickets war zu erfahren ab wann Einlass ist. Um 18.45 Uhr standen wir draußen in einer langen Schlange, was genau jetzt dazu geführt hat das die Schlange bis um den Häuserblock ging, war nicht ersichtlich. Der Open Bar Voucher hat das Personal etwas überfordert, man gab uns um 19.26 Uhr nur sehr widerwillig ein Getränk, weil wir angeblich zu spät waren und die Vorstellung beginnen würde (Beginn 19.30 Uhr) - insgesamt war der Gastro Bereich ziemlich gestresst, weil komplett unterbesetzt und unorganisiert. Während der Pause die gleiche Situation - entweder man holte sich was zu trinken oder ging auf die Toilette oder an den Merchandising Stand - um alles zu erledigen war keine Zeit. Getränkepreise utopisch, vor allem wenn an Personal gespart wird. Pfand pro Plastikbecher 5 Euro - sorry, aber überall anders werden auf solche speziellen Becher mit Logo, 2,50 - 3 Euro Pfand erhoben oder sogar extra zum Kauf angeboten. Merchandise Preise waren okay. Allerdings gab es eine T- Shirt Variante wo die Größenangabe absolut nicht passte, so daß alle die Größe S tragen, Xl kauften, selbst die Dame im Verkauf fand das eine Frechheit. Garderobe 2,50 ist okay, da es an dem Tag sehr warm war, gab es auch keine langen Wartezeiten, Personal sehr freundlich. Viele Raucher während der Pause, aber zu wenig Aschenbecher. Parksituation wurde klar auf der Webseite kommuniziert, deswegen war das für uns kein Problem. Die Kritik an der Umgebung, kann ich nicht nachvollziehen, ich war ja im Capitol und nicht auf Sightseeing Tour in der Nachbarschaft. Sonst alles sauber, Sitzplätze in Reihe 6 waren super. Lästig waren allerdings die Zuschauer die es nicht geschafft haben ihr Handy aus der Hand zu legen und munter Nachrichten gelesen und verschickt haben - das ist einfach respektlos. We went there with kids (12 and 8) to see Cats. The theatre itself is fine. The show was good. The lights and effects are great. May be little more colour to costumes could have been not a bad idea. However: we were stopped at the entrance and asked to leave a bottle of water at the entrance. No excuse for kids, etc. accepted. Half of the seats in the middle were empty. The seats at the back are not very high and it was difficult to see the stage. Overall: will only go there again for a good show to sit in front.
