During my recent stay at Leonardo Hotel City Center Düsseldorf, I found it to be an excellent choice for travelers seeking comfort, convenience, and value. Here’s my detailed review, highlighting what stood out and what fellow travelers might find useful:
Location
The hotel’s location is ideal, situated just a 5-minute walk from Düsseldorf’s main train station (Hauptbahnhof). This makes it perfect for those arriving by train or exploring the city using public transport. Major attractions like Königsallee and the Altstadt (Old Town) are also easily accessible, either by a short tram ride or a leisurely 20-30 minute walk.
Check-In and Staff
The check-in process was seamless, and the staff were friendly, professional, and multilingual. They provided helpful tips about nearby attractions and dining options, which enhanced my stay. The team’s attentiveness was a real highlight.
Rooms
The rooms were well-appointed with comfortable beds, modern furnishings, and amenities such as a flat-screen TV, coffee/tea-making facilities, and a minibar. The soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a peaceful night’s sleep despite being close to the city center. The cleanliness was impeccable, and I appreciated the thoughtful touches like complimentary toiletries and high-quality linens.
Facilities
The hotel offers a range of facilities, including: • Fitness Area: A small but well-equipped gym for a quick workout. • Bar and Breakfast: The breakfast buffet was a standout feature, offering a variety of options, including fresh pastries, cold cuts, fruits, and hot dishes. The bar provided a cozy atmosphere for an evening drink. • Parking: On-site parking is available, which is a plus for those traveling by car.
Value for Money
While not the cheapest option, the hotel strikes a great balance between affordability and quality. Its location, amenities, and overall service justify the price.
Tips for Travelers
• Ask for a room on a higher floor for better views and minimal street noise. • Take advantage of the breakfast buffet—it’s worth including in your booking. • If exploring Düsseldorf’s nightlife or dining scene, the Altstadt is a must-visit, and it’s easily reachable from the hotel.
Conclusion
Leonardo Hotel City Center Düsseldorf is a solid choice for both leisure and business travelers. It combines convenience with comfort and offers excellent service. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a hassle-free stay in the heart of Düsseldorf.

Read moreEDIT: After writing the dissapointing review below I was pleasantly surprised to come back to my room to see a handwritten note from the manager addressing my original issues along with some other small tokens to make up for my initial slightly negative experiences.
I have to say its not everyday i write reviews, so to have one listened to and so attentively by the manager here shows that my initial review is worth adjusting. The fact that they are on top of social media and respond so quickly shows that they do care and are willing to put themselves out there to please their customers. If this is how attentive they are with regards to a simple review then it shows that they are willing to go above and beyond to please their customers should you want for anything during your stay. Great customer service and happy to adjust my rating and recommendation accordingly!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Currently staying here. First day in and very unimpressed. Pictures online are a little bit misleading, the hotel is definitely more dated than it appears online - definitely worn in and a bit unkept. Although this isnt what is bringing the place down, it is instead the other small touches.
For example reading the welcome book, you are greeted with a first page of something to the effect of "WARNING theft is on the rise, be sure to look after your valuables and lock your door!" While i appreciate this is in my best interests and am grateful for the heads up, it is nonetheless a worrying precedent and calls in to question the secureness of the hotel.
More on the practical side however it is again the fundamentals that are lacking. Thewifi is only complimentary for basic speed and does not look secure. Fine if you want to play a bit of Spotify or look up the local area, but if like me youre on business then youd expect it to just be free as standard, seems like an unneccesary money grab to me.
Finally, the breakfast was really dissapointing. Theres no doubt there is a good selection, however for me personally i ordered an omelette and got a fried egg that got mashed up at the very end with a huge slab of folded over ham placed on top of it. Its worrying when a breakfast chef considers this an omelette.
Overall if you want a place to rest your head and tour Dusseldorf then i guess its fine. But for the price and from the ratings i saw when booking i...
Read more⚠️theft at Leonardo dusseldorf city centre with no resolution and little help from the hotel staff ⚠️
I was staying in Leonardo Dusseldorf hotel City Center between 3/9/2022 - 5/9/2022. When i returned back to the hotel at 11:50 pm on 4/9/2022 me and my friend realised our room (412) had been broken into and someone had gone through all of our luggage. The things missing were my headphones (sony wh-1000xm4 over 200 euros worth). These headphone were lying right on the table of room 412 and would have been easily seen had someone entered the room in a hurry. The tea station had been disturbed and it looked like someone had rummaged through the things to look for valuables. Later my friend realised her air pods (Mi true wireless - 20 euros) were also missing from her backpack and a few essentials that had been in her suitcase were lying on the floor. We looked all over the room and found many things to be disturbed, such as things thrown around in the luggage and went immediately to the reception to report the theft.
The hotel staff did not give this much attention and repeatedly said they cannot do anything. The sheer lack of care was shocking. On google and tripadvisor there are other reviews of guests having things stolen from the same hotel with no action taken. When I woke up I had to rush back to Berlin but spoke to the manager and was told I should file a police report.
I filed a police report immediately and have reached out to the hotel multiple times. They fail to reimburse me as per their hotel liability & theft policy. They also make me go around circles between the hotel manager and someone else in their staff who handles insurance claims. First they blamed me for not putting the headphones in the locker. Please note the locker is not big enough for a laptop, camera, headphones. Now the hotel claims that the police never did an investigation while I have sent them the report number and letters stating that this is a lie. The police was unable to find a culprit and told me that the insurance matter is a civil rights issue and I would have to hire a lawyer to sort it out.
3 months later - I give up! Overall, a pathetic hotel and...
