Frankfurt Central Station: A Historic Gem of the Railway Age 🚂✨

The pros: location is right beside the train station. Situated on a quiet street. Price is pretty affordable. The rooms are kept very clean. The cons: Despite the name, they don’t honor Toyoko Inn membership benefits here, meaning you earn no points and can't have free-night redemptions. It carries the Toyoko brand in theory, but in practice it feels like an independent entity. The service at the front desk is pretty cold. In Japan, Toyoko Inn provides extras such as toothbrush, slippers, razors, shampoo, conditioner, etc. Here they don't have any of that. I understand that this is likely due to environmental laws in EU. But at the same time, the other stingy Japanese practices are kept. In this hotel, the number of towels they provide depends on the number of people staying in the room. If you are a solo traveller, you'll get only one super thin towel. That practice might be ok in Japan, but it is not acceptable in Europe. The room size is also smaller than European standards. They also want you to check out at 10 a.m. Again, this is a Japanese practice unfashionable brought to Europe. I see no reason why we must leave our rooms at 10:00 while Intercity Hotel next door allows 12:00. At the same time, this hotel adopted bad things from other European budget hotels such as wafer-thin pillows and blankets. I think it's the worst of both worlds. Breakfast is at the level of a 2.5-star European hotel. I guess it's better than nothing?

The hotel is very close to Frankfurt main train station, and if you take S8/S9, you can find the exit sign of Intercity Frankfurt Hotel at Platform 1B. Follow that sign, Tokyo Inn is right next to Intercity Frankfurt Hotel. When you arrive, ring the bell at the entrance door, and the front desk will open the door for you. Once you have the room key, you can use the key to open your hotel door and the entrance door. The key is also used to take elevator. It costs about €32 and takes about 15-20minutes depending on the traffic if you take taxi from hotel to the Frankfurt airport. There is a bus station right next to this hotel. The breakfast is served from 6:30-9:30AM during weekdays, and 7-10AM during weekend. Breakfast includes yogurt, coffee, bread, miso soup, rice, coffee, eggs, fruit, juice and salad etc. Enough food to keep you full. If you need a scale to weight your luggage, you can ask front desk to borrow it. The room is not very big which is similar to the size in Tokyo Japan. But it is clean and quiet. You can store your luggages under the bed. Make sure that you turn on the bathroom fan when you take shower. If you are here for business, highly recommend to stay here because the cost of this hotel is really a good deal.

We stayed in Frankfurt at the beginning of our trip in Germany and found that you have to be careful when booking hotels in northeast area of the central station in Frankfurt but the area to the south where this inn is located is perfectly safe. This is a Japanese style business hotel and we tried out a location in South Korea that we enjoyed and we enjoyed this one too.||We got the room with two twin beds and they have standardized furnishings and technology no matter where you are in the world at these hotels. The air conditioning was very good and had a good quiet function that maintained the temperature of the room perfectly. The beds were comfy and the pillows and blankets were just thick enough. The room has a very well planned layout and utilizes the space well with a desk area, coffee/tea station, mini fridge and a seating area by the window. There is plenty of lighting in the room and some quiet switches on the lamps. A pleasant surprise for us was the view we got of the central station and many buildings nearby - we could sit there and watch trains and trams come and go.||The bathroom is compact but mighty with its well thought out modular design. There is a Japanese toilet with lots of pleasant features. The sink's faucet can fill the bath tub and also controls the shower wand and pressure. The shower has a wide spot in the middle that is perfect for standing in and has an overhead rain shower head with good pressure and good temperature control. The water for drinking can get pretty cold which was nice and refreshing.||The location was good and walking along the river to the old town area is a very pleasant stroll. There are some restaurants, bars and shops nearby. The central station has lots of trains, busses and trams that can take you anywhere in the city. The S9 train departs for the airport every 20 minutes and takes about 12 minutes to get there.||There is a restaurant in the lobby area that has good prices for beer. There is also a laundry area in the hotel and a large parkade across the street from the hotel. I dropped off my wife first before returning a car and there was a fire alarm and she found it difficult on how to exit. Thankfully no issues but they need to have clearer signage.||The breakfast was very good with plenty of variety including mostly western style breakfast options like scrambled eggs, sausages, bread and cheese. When we stayed there were some noodles for breakfast. They had juices, tea and a coffee machine. We found the cups provided for the coffee machine were too small for a few of the options. There is a courtyard to sit in and a large cafeteria style seating area. Breakfast is popular and was especially busy after 8 on Saturday morning when we visited. They provide trays that you can load up and bring to your table but many people were forgetting to clear there tables and bring them to the tray racks because the staff does not clear tables and is more focused on making sure all food spots are...
