Schlossberg — Attraction in Freiburg im Breisgau

Great place for a bit of hiking but paths should be better colour coded and the place lacks of public maps or information in English. We had been stopped by at least 10 walkers for advice and luckily we had a downloadable map on our mobile to help. Unfortunately the tower is closed until autumn. Some places seriously needs cleaning and tidying up as we have seen lots of discarded dirty shoes, clothes, needles and bottles just above the station where the views would have been excellent (but we were scared to walk across on that level and turned back to find another path). Very nice park with wide pathes, which make a circle around the mountain. A plenty of benches at the nice sightseeings let one take a rest. One side way path has very nice old hornbeam. However, the best place here is a top of mountain, which one can reach either while using round pathes or 430 m long stairs, which bring you directly to the top. After climbing up we were rather disappointed to find the tower closed and encased in a large fence. Some of the views on the way up were nice and the paths were well maintained but the summit is full of trees and I personally think it isn't worthwhile, the view is better from some of the other points...
