The Maximilian II Monument is an impressive landmark located in the centre of a plaza along Maximilianstrasse. It was designed by German sculptor Kaspar von Zumbusch in 1865. What you find here is a standing figure of King Maximillian II, he is fully robed with sword in his left hand and a scroll held to his chest with his right hand. The king stands on a granite pedestal with interesting ornamentation. There are four standing children representing the Coat of Arms of Swabia, Bavaria, Palatinate and Franconia below the king. Situated around the broader monument base are four adult bronze figures representing Wisdom, Justice, Love and Strength. It is a nice sculptural composition and overall impressive monument to see. A bit isolated from other traditional sightseeing in Munich, this one is worth making time to locate and view for those who enjoy monument viewing during their travel.

A very beautiful monument in honor of the Bavarian king Maximilian the second, which was built in 1875. At the very top, on the pedestal stands the Maximilian himself. At the foot of pedestal siting the four figures of an allegorical representation of the four virtues of the ruler: love, righteousness, wisdom and strength. A little higher than the figures are children holding shields with four coats of arms of the Altbayer territory.
