When it’s windy at the Ammos beach on the western side of town, come here - the sea will be much calmer. The water is crystal clear. There’s a better view, too, of mountains folding majestically into the distance. The downside is the size of the pebbles, both on the beach and in the water: large, sometimes very large. A €10 pair of water shoes from one of the shops in town transforms the experience; without them, expect your feet to get a bashing and your enthusiasm for this beach...
