Don't expect great food in Paleochora in August. There is so much tourism and all the restaurants are packed. The kitchens are not capable to keep the quality. The family owend restaurants, hire people usually foreigners, Albanians, Georgians or others who clean rooms in the morning to do most of the cooking. Instead, the lovely families do the PR and will welcome you with smiles. The food is still good. However, when you leave the restaurant, you'll make a negative comment, like: last year was better or the fish was not cooked to perfection, or the tomatoes had no taste etc. After spending more than 2 weeks in Paleo and dining to more than a dozen different restaurants, we could not find any that deserves more than 3 stars.
