Syntagma Square - Nafplio — Attraction in Municipality of Nafplio

Nafplio located on the Peloponnese area was rated as the prettiest town in Greece on CNN in 2021/22. We agree. My husband and I took my then 80 year old Malaysian mother in May 2022. The drive was about 2 hours from Glyfada. On the way, one could also stop over at a Mycenaean archaeological site. Nafplio has an artsy vibe to it. The old town's square is full of restaurants, tavernas, gelatos and cafes. There are many small lanes and alleys with shops selling locally produced artisanal products. There is a large fort, and when you drive up to a large parking bay next to it, and make your way down there is a lovely beach. My husband had his first swim for the 2022 season there. On a busy weekend when a national holiday gives the opportunity for a quick gateway the square and all the coffee shops will probably be full of people. If you are looking to enjoy the city on foot and do some shopping in the historical center my advise would be to visit before 10 am. You will enjoy your walk without too much people around you. We stayed for 3 days in Nafplio, enjoy all three days. Great restaurants all around, pastry shops everywhere. Shopping from clothing to souvenirs to shoes. It's a small town but has alot to offer.
