Kallinis — Local services in Municipality of Nafplio

Oh heck yeah...

I managed to miss this place when trying to find it walking right passed it. It is not well signed and unlike some places just down the block they have no street seating. With a street facing walkup/takeout window and a small amount of patio seating so people walking by see the food and people in the know waiting for their order this place would have a line of people down the block.

I came here to Kallinis after eating at another restaurant on the same block. I was as such not super hungry and only got to sample the food.

I ordered one pork and one chicken souvlaki. These souvlaki are grilled over an indoor chacoal bbq right at the front of the restaurant. They are cooked at the right height and get a nice slow grill that ends up giving you a super juicy tender souvlaki with just a hint of smoke flavor. Both souvlaki were amazing and at less than 2e each they are a bargain.

Tons of people come in here for takeout orders, the place is quiet early when they first open but as the night goes on business looked to pick up. This is a hidden gem in Nefplio....

We dined outside on the sidewalk in front of this simple but really, really good restaurant, a place that town folks know well. It was recommended by our AirBnB host and we know why. Prices are reasonable, and the food portions are generous. We split a greek salad with fresh ingredients, and a grilled half of chicken with a creamy lemon dressing on the side, and a mountain of french fries, and a liter of local red wine. The bill for all this food was a steal. As noted elsewhere, they cook with charcoal and not gas, so the grilling is authentic. This past weekend I was in Napflio ... where some good friends (local foodies) took me to Kallinis, a simple tavern, that they said makes the best grilled chicken in town! 😊😋

I have to admit ... our meal, a generous serving of juicy & perfectly grilled chicken with delish fries... was tops👍😋👍😋👍 .... and definitely the best I've had in a long time. 😊👍😊

The tavern also has other options on the menu ... including great souvlaki! 😊

Definitely going back on my next visit to Napflio ... for more chicken +++ & to take a few...
