Mythos — Attraction in Municipality of Thira

My husband and I were greeted warmly, quickly seated and given menus. There were only two other tables occupied by patrons who were already dining. Despite the restaurant not appearing to be busy, we didn’t see our server again for 15-20 minutes when he took our drink, appetizer, and entree order. He promptly brought us our beverages but it was 25 minutes later, after my husband had to get his attention, that he brought us one of the two appetizers we ordered (tzatziki and bread and grilled peppers). We finished the tzatziki but still no peppers or entrees. By this time we had been seated for nearly an hour and had been served only bread, water, and wine. Another server then brought the peppers but we had no more bread or tzatziki to accompany them nor was any offered. Thankfully, our entrees were served only minutes after receiving the peppers so we ate them as a side to our meal. Coincidentally, while we were waiting, a group of 8 people were seated behind us and within minutes were being served appetizers.

The food was delicious and the view was lovely but the service was deplorable. We’re friendly, tolerant people and didn’t complain or show an attitude but we are staying in Santorini for a month and are looking for a “favorite” restaurant for the duration. Mythos will not be our choice. Not only because of the extremely poor service but also because an additional €3 charge showed up on our credit card transaction that we did...

Waiter spent about 5 minutes getting “errors” on two of my credit cards and making me believe that something was wrong with “my cards” rather than with his wireless device.

It didn’t make sense that my cards were not working. I finally asked him if he has a “second machine to use”. His answer was that it was tethered inside the store so he couldn’t bring the second Visa processor outside… I then offered a simple solution: “Why don’t I go to pay inside the store using the 2nd machine?!” This was an excellent solution and it worked within seconds. It is interesting that the waiter couldn’t think of this simple solution himself… It felt like the waiter was unhappy with my solution when I offered it. And this was after five minutes of impasse. One would think that he would have been be glad to get paid after all this wasted time.

Regarding the ambiance, there were cats begging in the outside seating area which didn’t bother me too much but then the cats started fighting and sneering at each other. This was uncomfortable.

-chicken souvlaki: 10/10, comes with three chicken screwers, side of fries, pita and tzatziki. We used the pita to make mini gyros, the chicken was juicy and had lots of flavor -pastitsio: 100/10 the lasagna for the Greeks, so delicious, bechamel layered on the top, ground beef seasoned with nutmeg over a layer of noddles. One of my favorite Greek dishes -chicken a la crème: 100/10, holy moly this was delicious, the mushroom sauce on top of a juicy perfectly cooked chicken breast -pita bread: 9/10, look how many they give you haha -tzatziki: 10/10 you already know how I feel about this dip😍😍
