Hickson Road Reserve is one of Sydney’s most stunning and underrated public spaces. Tucked beneath the southern approach to the Harbour Bridge, it offers a postcard-perfect perspective of the Opera House across the harbour, framed by the sweep of Circular Quay and the ever-changing movement of ferries and water taxis. What sets this place apart is how effortlessly it connects monumental infrastructure with quiet human scale. From an architectural and urban design perspective, it's an exceptional example of spatial layering—where industrial heritage, iconic landmarks, and natural elements all coexist. The views are cinematic, yet the space feels deeply personal. It's no surprise this spot is popular for weddings and photography—there’s something timeless and dignified about it. The reserve itself is simple and beautifully maintained: generous lawns, mature palms, and just enough seating to linger without overcrowding. Whether you’re watching the light shift over the water, enjoying a peaceful walk, or catching the sparkle of the city skyline at dusk, Hickson Road Reserve delivers one of the most immersive views in Sydney. A quiet gem at the edge of the harbour—worth seeking out whether you're a visitor or a local in need of a pause.

Let's get one thing straight: 'Circular Quay is the Heart of the City' at night. Some amazing cafes, night clubs and restaurants are situated on the streets around this area and the walk is no less romantic and beautiful that one experience in Europe. And the View of Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House is one encapsulate Also this is the place you catch ferry to Manly Beach

Hickson Road Reserve is a great place to relax and enjoy the views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. It's a short walk from the city center, and there are plenty of benches where you can sit and people-watch. The views are particularly stunning at sunset, when the city lights up. A great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy some peace and quiet.

The views are always great, but especially for NYE! the park is usually open 24/7. On NYE it’s free access, but your have to arrive early. 2023/24 the full capacity was reached at about 3.30-4 pm. One you’re there, it’s all well organised with enough food and drinks and toilets. Highly recommended

Little tranquil riverside park surrounded by the city landscape. Great views of the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Great location if you are looking for a quick break as a local or a cheaky holiday snap as a tourist. Also good parking at the park too!
