Ferenciek tere Ă©s a Klotild palotĂĄk törtĂ©nete A tĂ©r törtĂ©nete Ă©s vĂĄltozĂĄsai A Ferenciek tere Budapest V. kerĂŒletĂ©ben talĂĄlhatĂł, Ă©s a vĂĄros egyik legfontosabb közlekedĂ©si csomĂłpontja. A tĂ©r törtĂ©nete egĂ©szen az ĂrpĂĄd-korig nyĂșlik vissza, amikor a helyĂ©n egy vizesĂĄrok hĂșzĂłdott, amely a vĂĄrosfalat övezte. A 13. szĂĄzadban Ă©pĂŒlt fel a ferencesek Szent PĂ©terrĆl elnevezett gĂłtikus kĂĄpolnĂĄja Ă©s rendhĂĄza, amelyet kĂ©sĆbb templommĂĄ alakĂtottak ĂĄt. A török hĂłdoltsĂĄg idejĂ©n a templom dzsĂĄmikĂ©nt szolgĂĄlt, majd a törökök kiƱzĂ©se utĂĄn a ferencesek visszakaptĂĄk a templomot, Ă©s 1727-tĆl kezdve a terĂŒletet BarĂĄt tĂ©rnek neveztĂ©k.
A tĂ©r hivatalosan 1874-ben kapta meg a Ferenciek tere nevet, de mĂĄr a 18. szĂĄzadban is Ăgy neveztĂ©k, csak nĂ©metĂŒl: Franziskanerplatznak. A tĂ©r közlekedĂ©si csomĂłponttĂĄ vĂĄlĂĄsa az 1890-es Ă©vekben kezdĆdött, amikor megĂ©pĂŒlt az EskĂŒ tĂ©ri hĂd (ma ErzsĂ©bet hĂd), Ă©s a Hatvani utcĂĄt (ma Kossuth Lajos utca) szĂ©lesĂteni kellett. A tĂ©r keleti oldalĂĄn ĂĄllĂł Alkantarai Szent PĂ©ter-templom Ă©s a kĂ©t Klotild palota is ekkor Ă©pĂŒlt.

Az Ă©szaki Klotild palota helyĂ©n korĂĄbban a RĂ©gi pesti vĂĄroshĂĄza ĂĄllt, amelyet a Hatvani utca szĂ©lesĂtĂ©se miatt bontottak le. Ărdekes törtĂ©netek Ă©s esemĂ©nyek NereidĂĄk kĂștja: 1835-ben avattĂĄk fel a templom elĆtti, delfinekkel Ă©s kagylĂłkkal dĂszĂtett NereidĂĄk kĂștjĂĄt, amely Pest legelsĆ szobrokkal dĂszĂtett közkĂștja volt. Szobrok: A tĂ©ren ĂĄllt kĂ©t szobor is, az egyik WerbĆczy IstvĂĄn jogtudĂłst, a mĂĄsik pedig PĂĄzmĂĄny PĂ©tert ĂĄbrĂĄzolta. MindkĂ©t szobrot 1945-ben politikai okokbĂłl ledöntöttĂ©k. NĂ©vvĂĄltozĂĄsok: A tĂ©r neve többször vĂĄltozott az idĆk sorĂĄn. 1921-ben Apponyi tĂ©rnek neveztĂ©k el, majd 1953-ban FelszabadulĂĄs tĂ©r lett, vĂ©gĂŒl 1991-ben kapta vissza a Ferenciek tere nevet.
History and Stories of Ferenciek tere and the Klotild Palaces The Squareâs History and Changes Ferenciek tere is located in the 5th district of Budapest and is one of the cityâs most important transportation hubs. The history of the square dates back to the ĂrpĂĄd era when a moat surrounded the city walls. In the 13th century, the Franciscans built a Gothic chapel and monastery dedicated to Saint Peter, which was later converted into a church. During the Turkish occupation, the church served as a mosque, and after the Turks were expelled, the Franciscans regained the church, and from 1727 the area was called BarĂĄt tĂ©r (Friarsâ Square).
The square was officially named Ferenciek tere in 1874, but it was already known by this name in the 18th century, albeit in German: Franziskanerplatz. The transformation of the square into a transportation hub began in the 1890s with the construction of the EskĂŒ tĂ©r bridge (now ErzsĂ©bet bridge) and the widening of Hatvani Street (now Kossuth Lajos Street). The Alkantarai Saint Peter Church and the two Klotild Palaces on the eastern side of the square were also built during this period.
Klotild Palaces The Klotild Palaces are two symmetrical buildings constructed between 1899 and 1902. The northern Klotild Palace was built on the site of the old Pest town hall, which was demolished to widen Hatvani Street. The construction of the palaces turned the square into a transportation hub, and by 1914, a tram line was already passing through the square.
Nereid Fountain: In 1835, the Nereid Fountain, decorated with dolphins and shells, was inaugurated in front of the church. It was the first public fountain in Pest adorned with statues. Statues: Two statues also stood in the square, one depicting the jurist IstvĂĄn WerbĆczy and the other PĂ©ter PĂĄzmĂĄny. Both statues were toppled in 1945 for political reasons. Name Changes: The name of the square changed several times over the years. In 1921, it was named Apponyi tĂ©r, then in 1953 it became FelszabadulĂĄs tĂ©r (Liberation Square), and finally, in 1991, it regained the name Ferenciek tere.
