**Very cold and heating not working in November* Our room (a dorm of 6 bed) was very cold when we arrived, we thought at first it was because it was early (we checked in around 4pm) and maybe the heating wasn’t on. We we arrived to our dorm the first night and it was freezing cold. We went down to reception and asked why the heating wasn’t working and we were told that it was a known problem with that room and they thought it was fixed. No solution was given to us that night other than giving us more blankets. Next morning, someone came into our room, without knocking (luckily we weren’t sleeping or naked) they didn’t say anything and they left. Soon after some else from reception came to check that the heating wasn’t working and that we hadn’t turned off the room heating radiator. She could see that it was in fact open and that it wasn’t working and the woman from reception brought us 2 electric radiators cause there was no option to move us to another room. The third day, when we came to the room, someone had taken one of the electric radiators we were given while we were out and of course the main heating radiator wasn’t working and room was freezing cold despite management saying it was working fine. It is November and the weather outside is cold, so leaving your guests to be cold it is something that it doesn’t deserve even 1 star. Also, the building is very old and it’s not well taken care off, the rooms are very old looking and the walls are not in the best condition either. The only good thing about this hostel is the location and the guy working at night is very nice. We do not recommend this hostel at all

EDIT after 2 weeks: DONT STAY AT HERE… my bed bug bites were persistently red, swollen n itchy (last pic). Srsly affected my daily life now… Pros: location is super convenient, metro/bus stations/cafes/supermarkets r all just downstairs. ***Cons: cleanliness is a concern, I got bitten by possibly bed bugs here (both my arms, hands, n some on my waist). I hv travelled in 40 countries so far n hv stayed at numerous hotels, airbnbs, hostels but this is the first time I got bitten so… another thing is the noise, as it’s just besides the main road, the place never gets quiet even wif the windows shut. N the toilet kept making noises (everytime u turn on the tap/shower, the toilet will make a flushing sound. This gets very annoying esp when someone is showering/using the wc early in the morning or late at night). There r also no bed curtains, offering less privacy n one might easily affect/be affected by other roommates (esp when we all hv different sleeping schedules n travelling plans). I hv stayed in another hostel in Budapest before (near the central market), n honestly I would rather walk a few more mins but stay at cleaner, quieter, n more private rooms.

Location: Centrally located in Budapest, close to the airport bus stop, metro, and local transport. The building itself is a beautiful, historic structure. Communication: The staff was incredibly easy to communicate with, both before and during my stay. They were very considerate of guests’ special needs and preferences. Rooms: The 6-bed room was surprisingly spacious, making it comfortable for everyone. Cleanliness: The hostel was very clean overall. The bed mattresses, pillows, and duvets were of excellent quality and new, with no stains, and everything was freshly ironed. Services: Towels are included, and there’s 24-hour access to coffee and tea. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking, and the living room provides a comfortable space for all guests. The reception offers help and service around the clock. Staff: The staff was exceptionally friendly and always ready to help. Room for improvement: The only thing I’d suggest improving is the cleaning staff's breakfast schedule. From about 7:30 to 8:45 every morning, they use the kitchen, which makes it difficult for guests to access the limited seating in such a small space.

I would certainly not recomend staying here at the risk of having BEDBUGS. Whilst the facilities and the layout of the rooms were quite nice, it was all cancelled out by the copius amounts of bedbugs that we encountered. My partner and i have been travelling for over 3 months now and never experienced anything even close to this. On the first night i was covered in dozens of bites/whelts from head to toe, including multiple on my face .  We were not  wanting to make a fuss and asked for some new sheets, as we thought the issue may have been  confined to  his bed. The bites continued over the next 2 nights and also spread covering my girlfriend in numerous bites. The frustration comes from the fact that the bedbugs were not isolated to us. We were overhead  in the common room speaking about how things were itchy by another couple, who proceeded to then tell us that they had also experienced a lot of bedbugs in the second level of the hostel and needed to be moved due to it (they were in a private room & we were on a dorm). The symptoms were identical to what we had experienced .  They were told that there had been a bugbed issue over the summer and then we were told that there was an issue  approximately a month ago. It is the knowledge of bedbugs in the rooms from which the extreme  frustration comes from, the hostel allowed us and other patrons to stay in a infested environment. Even once we notified the staff we were only given new sheets.

Upon checking out we asked to speak with management but they were none available that day. When asking that it is not good enough that they can be aware of the issue and do next to nothing, a response of there is nothingmire that can be done. The rooms HAD been fumigated the other month and that was that. Also being told that no further people would check into our room, which was a lie as 2 people checked in the day that we notified and a further 2 the two days after we notified staff.

Needless to say we virtually had no sleep over the 3 nights we stayed there and the apparent empathy we were recieved for what had happened was nonexistent and pretty pathetic. We were offer a tube of cream upon checking out. We have subsequently needed to pay for all of our clothes to be washed and purchased both antihistamine cream and tablets, all of which was at our expense. Disappointing to...

I stay for few days in Maverick hostel in Budapest Centre. 5 minuts walk from direct bus E100 2200F. I chose ticket 72h 5500 F public transport. Fist I took E200 then Metro and I get out in front of the Maverick Hostel. I found signs over the intersection where Hostel is located. A new receptions that started a week eariel had difficult with enterning my details into database. She was so stress out she start a little bit crying because she could not reach a colleague for help. A computer glitch or something. Second call and she managed to reach for help. I am not sure if I could manged this issus as good as she did, probably not. Well done, I was imprest. Check in is at 3pm because my bed was done earlier then they let me in without waiting till 3pm. From cleaners to receptionist all employees committed to work. Stuff was happy and helful throughout my stay. Big rooms with lockers. Kitchen, living room, dinning room, toilets, showers, etc clean daily, no dirt laying about anywhere. I think entire equipment was install no more than a year ago, kitchen cabinets, toilets, tiles, and showers cabins. Everything seems new. There was a signs all over hoster that they are expending I am not supprise, superb standard. No dirty dishes, crockery, place, pots, etc. FREE of charge wine degustation nice to touch to meet people from different parts of the world. Most of them they were European, only few from North America and some from Asia. It was a very nice time to talk to other people who do not look into telephones and listent how they end up to visit Budapest. Staff was excellent, hostel clean and inexpensive. lt was the best hostel I have ever...
