Budapest Inner-City Mother Church of Our Lady of the Assumption — Attraction in Budapest

It costs me to leave 1 star to a church but this is the true reflection of the experience I had there.

I was walking-by and decided to stop for a short prayer and meditation as I often do in all religious temples. Once I pushed the door, I was faced by a sign "Tourists Stop". No further elaboration was available. As a foreigner, being technically a tourist, I felt a bit nervous but I decided to walk past.

As I was going to sit in a bench, as guy came to me and said "tourist stop". That's all the English he could. I had to camera in hand, a bag or anything that would have suggested that I am there for anything else than praying.

I then walked to a little cubicle where a couple of people were praying. It stayed there a few minutes in meditation then left.

As the KJV Bible puts it nicely: "Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet".

I don't recommend this church as it's not open to anyone outside their immediate community. But good news, just 5 min walk from there, there is a another church that...
