A biologically active, natural warm spring with medicinal properties. There are some really great benefits to visiting this lake. However once you go in the odor can be somewhat off-putting, you need to work past that. now keep in mind if you're an American you might see some older gentlemen with very very tight male bikinis okay this is Europe need to accept it body shaming really doesn't apply like it does in America. The temperature of the water is extremely welcoming it's soothing and the water is natural. The price of admission is very reasonable, some areas of the building seam on the older side. The area that surrounds the lake you can easily spend an entire day there. There is a facility attached to the lake which offers spa services such as massages shiatsu saunas. if you are considering these type of services I would highly recommend that you make an appointment first prior to entering the lake because these services are limited and they tend to fill up fast during the day. I never received a massage before, ever. So my wife and I decided to go up make an appointment after we spent 3 hours in the lake. We make reservations we wait my wife goes into one room I go into the other. The lady offering the massage was a sweet woman from Taiwan. She looks at my very damp shorts and looks at me and asked me to take off my shorts, another woman has not seen me naked since I've been with my wife for 10 years. She laughs, covers our eyes and says don't worry I won't look. So as I'm fiddling taking off my shorts while holding a towel in my mouth so she doesn't see anything I then lay down on the futon on the floor, stomach down. She does a slight chuckle, pulls the towel down somewhat my butt exposed, smacks it three times laughs again and says, "Okay?" It's official ice has finally been broken. The massage was 1 hour and worth every penny for every second. I never felt so relaxed in my life just the pressure, the moving it felt amazing. I literally for about 10 minutes, passed out. I was trying to stay awake the entire time. I would urge you to do exactly what I did, relax in the lake, go for an awesome massage, then visit the adjacent shopping area that has restaurants little souvenir shops, and clothing stores. Then return to your hotel, Airbnb, or your friend's house, whatever, and sleep very very soundly. Highly recommend if you're in the area. Go early to get good parking and ensure that you have the right currency for...
Read moreThe lake itself is really nice, just its thermal water was really warm and it is exhausting to swim longer distances or to stay longer time in the lake.
We visited a restaurant and food was rather poor taking into consideration their price level. Both ladies serving food were speaking Hungarian only that made our choice really difficult.
We used Heviz Card that should deliver the following extra "+ 1 hour to your 3 hours’ ticket to the lake". Be careful when traveling with children as there is hidden trap in their price list and almost no chance to argue as Lake staff doesn't speak proper English. I bought "Lake ticket (3 hours)" for 3000 HUF and received +1 hour for free. But when I wanted the same extra 1 hour for my daughter using "Children ticket (3 hours), between 6-14 years" worth 1600 HUF, I had to pay additional 1000 HUF for this extra hour. They argued that first of all Hevíz card is valid for 1 person only - Hevíz Card office gave me 1 card only stating that both me and my daughter are on this card. They came with the second reason then - this promotion is valid for full price ticket and not for Children ticket. They also stated that 2600 in total is still cheaper to 3000 full price ticket. I checked this approach with another person at their Information Desk. He spoke English well and he was surprised why it was not working for my daughter as well and it is 3 hours ticket as well. When I asked for the refund of this surcharge, he checked with another Cash Desk Clerk and they confirmed that this discount doesn't apply on Children tickets at all.
It might be a cultural difference, it is similar to Budapest Széchenyi Spa, where they claim that "Thermal water is not recommended under 14, either" so you can buy Daily ticket only and only children up to 2 year are free of charge. But it is somehow in contradiction to their other rule " In case parents insist to come with a baby, he/she can enter the pools only if toilet-trained." It is the first time in EU when somebody corrected me that I shouldn't call a full price ticket as an adult ticket. Hungarians somehow do not differentiate adults and children prices and you will be forced to apply full prices on your...
Read moreThe lake itself is magnificent! The three hours gate to gate rule is nonsense for the price. The information provided at the reception is next to nothing, making the experience for first timers and foreigners worst than it should be. Indian family arrived before us... they did not know how to use the locker and token watch. The occupied multiple random lockers taking our assigned ones too. It took us more than half an hour from our three hour to explain the situation get a receptionist, reprogram token, go back to lockers, realize that the new locker is also occupied, go back to reception, ask the receptionist to come to the locker room to see the situation with her own eyes, etc. And she acted rude, while it seemed she does not care about the problem. She was also reluctant to set back the tokens to three hours after that mess, which, in my understanding could have been prevented by them paying attention to a larger group of tourists. It is my personal preference, but I do not like the unisex locker&dressing room. Also, the lockable dressing rooms are few compared to the number of people they allow in. About 1/3 of our payed price (for three hour stay) was taken by the locker room...
