I did not expect much but I thought that 3 stars category would afford our little family minimum hotel comforts. Upon arrival however it turned out to to be tourist category 1980s facility where absolutely everything has brought me down memory lane. These things aged however and have not been replaced with anything new.||We have booked the best there was on offer- an apartment, which was actually in a seperate residental building above the pub! Big deciding factor about this establishment for me was the large balcony but since it wasn’t actualy in the main hotel there was only tiny balcony above the buzzer with no chairs. Our accomodation was just dated one bedroom flat, I tried to change it to the main building but was told this is the best they had in terms of suites.||We had taken the package with half board. The food was practically the same every day... but our sensitive stomachs were fine so must have been freshly cooked.|||Location is absoluty best in Heviz, you roll out of bed and are at the bus stop or at the medicinal lake, which we highly recommend visiting. With the renovation they could become the top hotel, it is a shame it went in such decline over the years. We were using various services during our stay in town and the hotel does not appear to be highly regarded among the locals...|||We have experienced some issues during our stay but at the end we were shown a measure of goodwill so I need tp give them a credit for customer service and added one star as I wanted to rate it two...
Read moreMy gal pal and I traveled to Heviz for a night to enjoy the lake and spas. We loved our stay at the Majerik. At first sight we were nervous--the building looks a little decrepit, shabby and communist-y on the outside. However the inside is much more important, and made for a great stay :) Our room was warm and comfy. We had a lovely 11 HOURS of sleep on the beds, best I've had in a long time. The receptionist, I don't know her name but SHE WAS WONDERFUL!!! If you are reading this you deserve a promotion. Thank you so much for your help. She let us use the jacuzzi, lent us a bag for our swimsuits and noodles for the lake, and overall was very patient. We didn't end up having enough time for the massages here but if you get a massage, get one here it's way cheaper than anywhere else. The breakfast was not terrible, I had muesli cereal and cucumber/tomato salad so hey, no complaints when it's free. Oh and ALSO I forgot the LOCATION!!!! It is perfect. So close to all the restaurants and only a 5 minute walk from the lake. Way closer than the shmancy overpriced Danubius. And it was literally right next to the bus stop. Overall, if you're on a student budget this is a great place to go. If you're lookin' for something fancy this is not your place but if you want a great night's sleep, perfect location and a fun night for $30, the Majerik...
Read moreI broke a finger staying here early December, and have yet to find out if they will even pay for medical expenses as no staff at time could speak English, or when I returned with my hand in a cast. This place does not meet health & safety standards in my opinion. I was just coming down the stairs, stepped a little out of place wearing boots on an unfamiliar staircase, and only needed to steady myself on a stair rail. To find they don't have one you can grip!!!! There was only a big thick square edged plank along the stair and all I could do was put open fingers behind it to brace a fall forwards. My right hand is still in a cast and you can imagine not having a dominant hand is an enormous inconvenience to everything I need to do and am still receiving treatment for it. i cannot recommend this place in its current condition. I hope I can advise of the hotel paying expenses accrued from my breaking a bone while using their staircase at a...
