As a couple, we spent two nights at the hotel thursday - saturday. The hotel is well located in the centre, few minutes walk from the Hévíz Lake. The hotel itself is a modern well equipped hotel with friendly staff and beautiful rooms and design all over the building.
However, I was expecting more for the price regarding its value especially with the food (which ia included as half board is the basic what you can book) and the wellness facilities.
Food: on thursday evening, the dinner was a very basic middle quality buffet dinner with choices, what you can get in any low or mid class restaurant anywhere. On friday, I guess because of the weekend and probably higher prices, it was much better, but still far from a "superior" quality or a 4 star hotel quality. Regarding the half pension and the buffet dinner, not even a single fruit juice or a mineral water was included in the dinner, which I think should be, but was offered at a quite high price. Altough you can change the buffet dinner for the a'la carte restaurant in the value of 5500/6500 huf (reception and info leaflet stated differently) but the choice of foods are pretty poor and dont think after first night's dinner, it would have been a good value to pay more for the dinner.
The breakfast was 5* , it was perfect, if some fooda were not fresh, upon request, the kind walters made sure we were served freshly.
Spa/ wellness: a very fancy pool and a jacuzzi, but apart from looking fancy, nothing special. The choice of the saunas are good and numerous, I was missing dive pool with cold water.
In overall, I would rate the stay at 3.5*, but its not possible and unfortunately I have to go lower, thank higher this time.
By the way, I am Hungarian, I travel and visit hotels a lot within the country and outside of Hungary too.
I wish we could have had only one night with dinner included as Hévíz offers amazing restaurants with local Hungarian dishes at very...
Read moreThe hotel was very nice overall.
We really liked our room. We were a group of six people in 3 separate rooms. All the rooms were in the same price category, but one of them had an older styled bathroom that wasn't mentioned before nor shown on the hotels gallery. It felt like one of the couples drew the short end of the stick and it felt unfair from the hotel.
The breakfast was amazing we really liked it. There was a big selection of food and beverages. You don't have to pay extra for any of the drinks (unlike at dinner). The dinner was also great. All the food we ate was outstanding. The selection could have been a bit more. At the dinner you have to pay for all the drinks and the prices are not shy.
The pool section was great also. There is one pool and one jacuzzi. There are towels and sauna mats for you to take so you don't have to take one with yourself from your room. The sauna section was amazing. Our only problem was that we were there for 3 days and out of those three we were not able to use the big pool for a hole day because it was closed due to water quality issues. We understand the reasoning behind it but it should have been fixed before opening.
The parking costs extra. You can stay next to the hotel in an outdoor parking spot where the sun hits your car all day. There was an other option: there is an underground garage on the other side of the backstreet. We went with option 2. The garage door was not working so it was open 0/24. The spots were super small so prepare that you can only park here with normal sized cars. Our other inconvenience was that we were not able to charge our electric car in the hotels parking lot.
In conclusion I think that this hotel is an amazing choice if you are visiting Hévíz. Price/value is great overall. I would be happy to give 5 stars, but there were some small issues that made me go with...
Read moreWhat a beautiful hotel! Located right in the centre of Heviz, Hungarian spa city, Bonvital is such a treat for a short or long escape. The hotel is beautiful - very clean, very well maintained, looks new and modern. the check-in was seamless - the card payment via booking did not include city tax charge, or the service charge (I am still not quite clear how this was calculated- our inclusive breakfast apparently incurred a service charge, and also the parking fee - 5 euro per day for parking on the private hotel car park).
Our room was at the very top of the building - we had a cute balcony overlooking the main street, a private bathroom, double bed, TV with German, Hungarian and some English channels, minibar, and AC. Since it's a wellness hotel, we got slippers and bathrobes which we could wear when going to the swimming pool area on the first floor. We were super happy with the swimming pool (it was never busy), jacuzzi and the saunas (45 - 100 C degrees). I also visited the small fitness room which was a little bit disappointing - none of the cardio machines worked.
Breakfast was not creative but you had your basics - scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, vegetables, cereals, ets. Bonus point for plant milk! We also ate at Brix, the bistro at the ground floor of the hotel. Their menu is really small but we could not complain about the quality of the food. Everything was delicious.
In overall, it was a lovely retreat. The city was really quiet and pleasant. We did not get to go to the lake (about 5-10 min walk from the hotel) but honestly, we did not feel we missed out, especially when spending time in our private wellness!
I recommend this hotel for couples. Since there are no kids under 14 years old, it's...
