When I was 4 years old, I first stepped into this park. Then on till I got married I visited this park. With my family I visited this park, but today I visited this park all by myself to watch Chennai Sangamam and try to recollect my childhood days memories of this park. This park has a history on its own that during heritage walks you get to know a lot. With two openings as you enter the park, you will start walking on the pathway laid wondering where it is leading you to. During second round you start admiring the trees. Third round you look at the amenities while fourth round you will end up clicking pictures. There are lot of seaters provided, while this park is a jogger’s, walkers paradise besides being a children’s favourite play area. Coming out don’t miss out in tasting chaat and bhajjis in the evening. Yards away is Rangachari shop, while towards Luz 15mts walk takes you to Ganesh temple. Next building is Amrutanjan factory. With advent of metro line, the road adjacent to the park is filled with traffic. So while crossing you should be careful. Chennai Sangamam, book reading workshops, heritage walks, open concerts are popular in this park. A park not to miss in Alwarpet...

The opening and closing time varies according to Government orders, but usually morning 6-10 and evening 3-7 are assured open times.
Very decent maintenance.
Varied Flora and Fauna.
Best place to walk; and for adults to spend some quality time together with Mother Nature.
There is a place allocated for children to play, but it would always be occupied by adults and boisterous young boys playing shuttle and football and other physically very active games. So, its best not to risk taking too young children to play. But, we can take them for just running around and to be in the presence of nature for some time.
There is also a work-out place, where all kinds of work-out fixtures are placed. People use these very productively and they are also maintained very well.
Its a heaven for people who are interested in studying variety of trees and plants, as there are a plethora of zoological wonders in there. A beginner in study of flora and fauna would find this place very interesting.
Two-wheeler parking around the park is abundantly available, but the same cannot be told for...
Read moreThis is a place we went to at as Children, took our children but will I get to take my grand children? This is open only for a few hours morning and evening. The lawns are fenced off. There used to be some animals like deer, ducks not to be seen now. The pathways have been relaid and twisted out of shape. New addition of powerless gym equipment for elderly is a nice touch. But what else? I went in the morning and did not see a single child play. They were there for Silambattam, boxing training. The slides non used. There used to be a shoe shaped slide which has mystery and the venue for many of our hide and seek games. This has been reshaped and is used for storing twigs and wood. Don't know who is responsible but this cannot be Singara Chennai. I actually had rated 3stars but after writing this post...
