Lots to say about this hotel! I’ll end with the pros!
Cons: The ledge above the bed looked like it hasn’t been wiped down in months; full of dust. I had to be mindful my hair didn’t touch it every time I sat up to read or watch a show.
They were painting one of the floors and the paint fumes were coming into our room. It was a really intense smell for over 24 hours with no warning from the receptionist. Really think they should have planned that better as those fumes are toxic. They put 1 air filter in the hallway but that’s not enough.
Our sheets were stained upon arrival.
None of the greeters outside of the hotel were helpful with our luggage, helped at all, even opened our doors. This went on for a span of 3 days. Not sure what their job is but any hotel I’ve ever stayed at in Indonesia involves them being helpful with bags and opening doors at a minimum.
The front lobby smelled like an aquarium some days. I guess it’s to be expected with a fountain but it did throw us off the first few days.
For whatever reason Grab bikes aren’t allowed to pull up at the lobby so if you’ve ordered food/drinks you’ll be waiting a lot longer as they’ll have to park.
At times when we called the concierge desk it would take them 15-20 minutes just to bring a single towel because our rooms were supplied with enough.
Even though they already asked me for my room number they still attempted to charge me for breakfast (even though breakfast came free with our room). This is a misstep but one that I was about to sign off for because I thought it was taxes/fees until I inquired further.
The walls were NOT soundproof. Every day at 7:42AM blaring music was coming from the streets. Very surprised Hyatt hasn’t talked to the city about this. It rudely awoke us every morning. Soundproof walls needs to be a non-negotiable when you’re a hotel on a busy street.
The AC didn’t work as well as we would have wanted it too which is a MUST for us. At the coolest temperature we were still warm throughout the night.
The fridge did not work in our room at all. For the price point and a 5 star hotel these are WAYY too many cons.
Pros:
Their breakfast spread is really lovely. The highlight for us was the waffle bar with the honey comb. Really delicious pastries as well! Would love if they offered bacon/more meat options however.
Their gym is the nicest hotel gym! Amazing whirlpool, sauna, steam room. Very clean and orderly. This was the highlight of our stay. Really beautiful pool with comfy lounge chairs as well! We could’ve spent...

Stepping into the world of refined luxury at Grand Hyatt Jakarta, I indulged in the contemporary charm of the King Deluxe room, a choice that resonated with a rate of Rp4,293,520. The hotel, standing tall in the heart of Jakarta, unveiled its allure through a perfect Bundaran HI view, newly renovated rooms, and an unparalleled fitness and pool experience reminiscent of Balinese resorts.
Captivating Views: The King Deluxe room provided an immersive experience, accentuated by a perfect Bundaran HI view from the restaurant. Witnessing Jakarta's iconic roundabout from this vantage point added a touch of urban sophistication, making every dining moment an aesthetic pleasure.
Modern Refinement: Grand Hyatt Jakarta showcased its commitment to modernity through newly renovated rooms that exuded contemporary elegance. The seamless fusion of comfort and aesthetics in the room design contributed to an inviting ambiance, creating a sanctuary within the bustling city.
Fitness and Pool Oasis: A standout feature of the stay was the remarkable gym, arguably the best in Jakarta, offering a comprehensive fitness experience. The pool, designed to evoke the serenity of Balinese resorts, became a tranquil escape, allowing guests to unwind in a tropical-inspired setting within the urban landscape.
Balancing Nuances: While the overall experience was marked by modernity, some areas retained a sense of the past, appearing slightly dated. The popularity of the restaurant during breakfast sometimes resulted in a bustling atmosphere, which, while vibrant, could be a deterrent for those seeking a more serene start to the day.
Culinary Delights: The culinary journey at Grand Hyatt Jakarta unfolded with a great breakfast spread, showcasing Indonesian specialties in the main restaurant. The rich flavors and diverse offerings added a delightful dimension to the morning dining experience.
In Conclusion: My stay at Grand Hyatt Jakarta, in the King Deluxe room, encapsulated a harmonious blend of timeless elegance and contemporary comforts. The perfect Bundaran HI view, newly renovated rooms, and the unparalleled fitness and pool facilities contributed to an unforgettable urban retreat. Despite some areas reflecting a bygone era, the overall experience affirmed Grand Hyatt Jakarta as a beacon of modern luxury in the heart...

I just spent 11 nights at the Grand Hyatt Jakarta, and boy, was it an experience! I had heard the hotel had a big renovation, so I was curious to check it out. The location is perfect, with a direct link to Plaza Indonesia Shopping Mall – talk about shopping heaven!
First off, let me say, the staff are super friendly and always eager to help. The rooms? Absolutely huge! It felt like I had rented a mini-apartment. Definitely a great bang for your buck. The rooms come with everything you could wish for – it's like they read my mind!
But here's where it gets interesting. Despite the fancy five-star label, it felt more like a four-star plus. Maybe they should invent a new star system, like the French "Palace" or the six-star ratings in the Arab world. Just a thought!
For example, when I arrived, there wasn't even a welcome letter in my room with the usual info about the lounge, breakfast times, etc. I had to ask the staff, who then had to fetch it. And, get this – no concierge! They claim the front desk handles it, but that’s just marketing talk. Trust me, I tested it.
Breakfast was another adventure. Sometimes, it took up to 15 minutes to get a drink! Finding a table in the main restaurant was like a game of musical chairs. Not very five-star, right? The lounge was supposed to be the alternative, but the breakfast selection there was tiny. So, many just ended up at the main restaurant, making the wait even longer.
Then there was the hotel driver I booked for the airport transfer. He had no clue which terminal I needed. We had a back-and-forth conversation that was like a comedy sketch – "Is it Terminal 1? No, maybe Terminal 2?" Not the smoothest ride, I must say.
Oh, and in this age of eco-friendliness, it was surprising to see fruit and cutlery wrapped in plastic. A little strange, right?
But I must give a huge shoutout to the cleaning staff. They were fantastic – always polite and doing an amazing job. They were the true stars of my stay!
So, while the Grand Hyatt Jakarta has its charms, it felt like a four-star pretending to be a five-star. Still, it was an adventure...
