Where I go to sometimes perform or watch live theatre performances, music concerts, dance events, art exhibitions and even movies. Will try to take my little one to enjoy the planetarium. This is the Jakarta Arts Centre, and people often mistake it as a part of the Jakarta Arts Institute which is an academy of the arts inside the complex. The two institutions are run by two completely different entities.

The JAC Taman Ismail Marzuki runs the parking space above and in the basement Graha Bhakti Budaya, almost 800 seats; Teater Kecil, almost 200 seats; Teater Jakarta, almost 1200 seats; all proscenium theatre. Behind Graha Bhakti Budaya there is also an open theatre, for 300-400 people. The front grounds of Teater Jakarta is comfortably spacious enough for it to commonly be used as a performance venue as well. It also has two art galleries (Galeri Cipta 1 and 2), an XXI cineplex, a Kineforum, and various restaurants. There is a public library near the front area of the complex. Some buildings are shabby as crap but the government is working to change things for the better, let's just hope they manage to do that.

The Jakarta Arts Institute has a campus studios, and the most prominent is Teater Luwes which is a proscenium theatre building but has open audience floor with no permanent seatings, so the performers can choose to play on the stage or on the floor. Around 300-400 audience can enter here, depending on the choice of performance space. The campus has been renovating itself to...

The center of Arts in Jakarta, Taman Ismail Marzuki, also known as TIM, is a complex located on Cikini Raya Street 37, Jakarta. Those who are looking for traditional and contemporary arts might find this place useful. This complex acquired its name from the great Indonesian musician, Ismail Marzuki, whose statue guards the entrance gate. It hosts the Institut Kesenian Jakarta (Jakarta Institute for the Arts) and Jakarta Platenarium. The arts institute is the only one of its kind in Indonesia and the first local college entirely dedicated to the training of performing and visual arts. There are modern, state-of-the-art theatres and cinemas, more traditional auditoriums, street performers and a cornucopia of restaurants and bars offering basic but tasty food and drink from all over Indonesia. The patrons range from the young, trendy, keen-to-be-seen set to bohemian artistes debating the latest trends.

The focal point of cultural activities in Jakarta is the Jakarta Art Center, known as Taman Ismail Marzuki or TIM in short. It is said to be the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia and consists of exhibition halls, theaters, an academy of arts, an archives building and a planetarium. A monthly programmed of events, available at hotel counters, includes exhibitions, plays, musical and poetry recitals, dance performances, folk art and drama from the various regions of Indonesia. Facilities include an indoor and outdoor theater, exhibition halls, two art galleries...

I came to visit the TIM library just once, because I couldn't find a desk for me to study. Well, my fault, I went there at Saturday/weekend. I would say this is a cozy and aesthetic-like library in Jakarta. The view, interior design and exterior are 🤌✨ If you want to go here, first thing to do is to download the Jaklitera app and register, because you need to scan the QR code at the entrance. After that, they will give you a locker key and library transparent totebag to keep all the things you want to bring into the library; laptop, notebook, phone, etc. Please do not bring any snacks or drink except mineral water in your own tumbler. There is free Wi-Fi. They also provide a room for children to play/storytelling room, a computer room if you want to use the library pc, and many desks with good view for you to work/study, but yeah keep in mind that they're quickly filled up with people. Either you wait, or read something while stretching your legs on the floor beside the Bookshelf 🥲 Over all, it was a good experience for me. The staff is nice, you ask and they're happily answer you anything. But, still, I can't find the book I need there for my research. So, maybe I will visit this library again only for working, or just vibing like I'm a book worm.

Taman Ismail Marzuki, also known as TIM, is a cultural center located in the heart of Jakarta, Indonesia. Named after the Indonesian composer and cultural figure Ismail Marzuki, TIM is a hub for the arts, with a range of facilities including theaters, galleries, and music studios. One of the standout features of TIM is its theater, which regularly hosts a variety of performances ranging from traditional Indonesian dance and music to contemporary plays and concerts. The theater has excellent acoustics and comfortable seating, making it a great place to experience the arts. In addition to the theater, TIM also has several galleries showcasing the work of Indonesian artists. These galleries are a great way to get a sense of the country's rich artistic heritage and see some truly amazing works of art. TIM also has a range of music studios, which are available for rent by musicians and bands. These studios are well-equipped and offer a great space for musicians to practice and create. Overall, Taman Ismail Marzuki is a fantastic cultural destination in Jakarta. Whether you are interested in the arts, music, or just want to experience something new, TIM is definitely worth a visit
