Anatolia was, in my opinion a mixed, yet generally positive experience. To start off, the food is authentically Turkish, and the owners and staff seem to predominantly be so, bar the waitress. Although the food is generally very good in terms of quality, taste and value for money, the availability of some of the most popular and delicious food items which make Turkish food so ubiquitous, such as Turkish-style tea, or baklava was unfortunately not present for the night. Additionally, much of the menu is composed of kebabs, which seems to rely on most people's primary awareness of Turkish food being that of kebabs. Bar that, the menu generally lacks diversity, but popular dishes like the Iskender kebab, which my partner had, and shakshouka were available and delicious, although if you enjoy shakshouka warm, then I advise you notify the staff beforehand, as ours was served cold at first. Although the atmosphere was that of a pleasant, if plain café, the waitress (Ukrainian) was definitely a detractor from the overall experience, whose grasp of English was very poor (understandable), and who was also generally cold and impolite. Generally, the experience was okay, but it was difficult to feel comfortable voicing concerns or asking for help with anything, or to not feel rushed in our experience. Whilst I encourage people to come, I would recommend elsewhere for those looking for a more relaxed,...
Read moreSuch a pity. When first opened we loved it. Chicken shish was amazing. Best ever! Went 4.9.22 and everything was poor. Asked for no flat bread and no onion on it and got both. The staff didn’t understand us so we can forgive that in a way. Previously a good portion of this delightful chicken now 4 pieces. We also had a doner. Again, was delicious when they opened. This time 3 of 4 pieces of doner were gristle. Couldn’t hardly chew/swallow a single mouthful. To finish off a bad day… Wet salads soaked the undercooked flat bread. Overall, rather disheartening as we thought we had found a brilliant food stop. Hope this isn’t a place slowly cutting back on the quality to maintain profit. (And not that slowly either). Maybe a bad day in-house and we all have them but this was poor. we both left most of our €25 takeaway and it went in the bin. Msg to owners: Please press reset and go back to the old ways for everyone’s sake....
Read moreJuly 2023 review: It's been a year since our first dining experience here in Anatolia and I must say every visit we did (3-4 times, as I can remember) their food quality is very consistent. We are very happy with all the improvements in the restaurant's look, nothing too fancy but nice and clean. We were served by a lovely young lady yesterday, so sorry that I wasn't able to get her name. Well done Anatolia team and your place is always our go to whenever we are in Kilkenny.
July 2022 review: Their menu says "Tasty & Delicious" and they are true to their word. Mix shish kebab has fantastic flavors, like there's a party in my mouth. My husband loved the Iskender--meat very tender, refreshing yogurt and simple naan bread which compliments the meat. Fairly priced meals with huge portions. We ordered baklava for take away and it was AMAZING! kudos to the whole team for their good service as well. MUST try restaurant...
