Cristaldi International Food Store — Attraction in Catania

A mythic & historic name, first in Catania to have international, actually, more Asian foods, in an alley facing the "Fiera", the city market of bygone times, also when immigrants, specially from India Sri Lanka or Thai, were few. I would give 5 stars if only they didn't try to go, anachronistically, "Big Business", that, to keep it up with the "new" situation, where immigrants self started shops & restos. Cristaldi has to keep it up against the "Bangla" true shops and prices are super high!!...

Premetto che la mia famiglia si è sempre servita da Cristaldi da generazioni. Ho acquistato 1 kg di cannella di una notissima marca in stecche il 20 agosto 2025, buttando lo scontrino perché mai avrei pensato che un prodotto così blasonato potesse rivelarsi insapore. Il 1 settembre ho aperto la busta e ridotto in polvere 2 stecche, riscontrando che, nonostante il profumo gradevole, non avevano praticamente alcun sapore di cannella. Mi sono recato in negozio per chiedere chiarimenti: senza scontrino non hanno accettato rimborso o sostituzione, nonostante avessi con me la prova del pagamento tramite movimento bancario (con nome del negozio, data e importo di €45,20). Mi è stato inoltre fatto notare che la confezione era stata aperta, ma naturalmente senza aprirla non avrei potuto verificarne la qualità.

L’esperienza complessiva, sia per la qualità del prodotto che per la gestione post-vendita, è stata per me deludente. Credo che un gesto di buon senso, anche prescindendo dallo scontrino, avrebbe potuto fare...
