The most unpleasant and rude service I had in Europe and that's why:
Me and two friends came after a long hike to relax and eat, when the waiter came up and heard that for now we only wanted to order some drinks, he directly told us that this is not a bar but a restaurant, so we should order food now or leave, we were already planning on eating after the other two friends would join us (by the way, the kitchen, according to the waiter, was closed at that very time and opened only after 18). Okay, I can understand the logic, even though it was said in a very unpleasant way before we had a chance to even order something. When ordering a drink, I checked the price, which was not on the menu - I received an answer from the waiter, I asked again twice, since it sounded relatively cheap to me, the waiter gave the same price. After 10 minutes, friends came up (after hiking in the cold and rain) to join the meal, to which the waiter’s reaction was to kick them out(because of the way they looked after hiking), wrap up the unfortunate pizza, which we didn’t even have time to have a bite and give us the bill. Important to mention that the place was completely empty and friends were about to leave the backpacks and the wet stuff outside. And now a surprise - the price I asked the waiter about and twice received the same answer in the bill was twice as high, when I tried to explain this to the manager of the restaurant I received the following answer: our restaurant is the best, if you don’t like it, pay and leave - said in a very unpleasant way. In general it's frustrating when as a tourist some places would look at you as a walking wallet and not to give you a feeling of a hospitality and kindness and that's exactly the way I felt. So if you happen to be in this beautiful town, better leave your money in the places that would appreciate it - for example La Luge, polite...
Read moreWe visited la padella several times 6 years ago and the food and service was very good .on our recent visit we were very dissapointed. We arrived without a booking and seated promptly.our order was taken quickly. Our drinks arrived and shortly afterwards one of our meals arrived and about 10 mins later the 2nd meal arrive. My partner ordered the calzone but when it arrived it was hot around the edges but stone cold inside rather than piping hot.we tried to get the attention of one of the waiting staff but to no avail as it seems people in the corner were forgotten about. When a waiter eventually came over to us we explained that the food was cold and could not eat it.he said he would have to speak to his boss obviously the owner.on his return there was no apology, no offer of a replacent meal nothing just asked if we wanted a dessert or coffe which we did. On leaving and paying for our meal there was no apology from the owner or the cold meal taken off of our bill. This has got to be the worst customer care we have ever received in italy and needless to say we will not...
Read moreThe food was really good and the owner was very friendly. However, I left feeling scammed/cheated on a minor 2 euro difference. The waiter would not concede that coperto (service fees) are included in the 2 menu meal options, and proceeded to charge me twice. The waiter initially played it off as us being ignorant tourists unaware of the coperto system in Italy - and when confronted with the double charge by pointing at the menu (where it is very explicitly stated that coperto is included in the menus), the waiter became annoyed and left me feeling scammed. Rather than making a scene, I paid for the double charge and left (albeit without the tip we had initially wanted to give).
Likely this is no concern for others, but despite the good food I will not return here because of this stuff. If anything, I would recommend not taking any menu options to avoid this situation of double coperto charges. I assume it happens more frequently.
Edit: The response (as seen below) is very professional and appreciated. As said: the food...
