A different experience altogether as it was the first time that I went there.

Thought of going for a cone as usual that I know and do 😂 but then followed what my friend ordered.

ZABAIONE CALDO - served with whipped creme and warm zabaione.

Zabaione, as described by my Italian friend is the yellow drink in the picture that's made of eggs, sugar and alcohol ( the alcohol that's is specific to the coastal town of Marsala in south Italy ).

It quite a thick and a consistent drink, that is strong as well, hence one of the staff at the counter was kind enough to guess and confirm from me that it was my first time and hence asked me to first taste a bit of zabaione in a cup and then confirm if I wanted to change to a different flavour like chocolate, but I didn't change.

So I was served the same with a chocolate filled wafer stick.

Followed my friend and ate a portion of creme dipped in zabaione , to realise that the effect of the strong flavour reduced due to it.

Overally it was a great enjoyable experiment and experience as I had never tried something like this.

Spinti dalle innumerevoli recensioni positive del locale, decidiamo di andare a provare il loro gelato. Dopo 30 minuti di viaggio in auto e 25 minuti di camminata per arrivare sul posto, entriamo per ordinare due brioches con il gelato, di cui solo una con panna (ma che in questo locale si paga ugualmente, anche se non si gradisce sul gelato). Il prezzo ci lascia leggermente stupiti perché paghiamo 9€ per due brioches. Però non ci importa più di tanto perché non vedevamo l' ora di gustare una bella brioche con il gelato in una bella giornata di sole. Scegliamo tra i pochi gusti proposti e il commesso ci prepara le due brioches: la delusione più totale. Ci presenta due brioches con due palline di gelato grandi quanto due chicchi d' uva! Non è un' esagerazione, la grandezza di una pallina rispettava veramente quella di un chicco d'uva. Abbiamo speso 9 € solo per mangiare una brioche praticamente vuota! Gli ultimi bocconi li ho mandati giù solo sorseggiando dell' acqua, in quanto la brioche non si era amalgamata con il gelato (visto che era inesistente) e risultava particolarmente asciutta. Peccato perché sia le brioches sia il gelato ci sono sembrati al gusto piacevoli. Ma non possiamo sbilanciarci troppo sul gelato perché era davvero troppo poco per poterlo valutare. Forse abbiamo sbagliato semplicemente formato, infatti le coppette o i coni ci sono sembrati molto più ricchi di gelato rispetto alla brioche. Però non torneremo sicuramente per provarli, in quanto ci siamo sentiti derubati. Siamo rimasti così scioccati dall' accaduto che non abbiamo avuto la prontezza né di chiedere spiegazioni né di scattare una foto. Abbiamo consumato, in silenzio, in pochi minuti il nostro gelato e siamo usciti da questa gelateria con la stessa voglia di gelato con cui eravamo entrati. Just arrived in Pavia late at night and this wonderful ice-cream parlour is still open after 10.30pm - amazing! There are queues out the door of course as the ice-cream is fab and reasonably priced at 3.50 Euro per scoop but I couldn't resist and had a slice of the blackberry cheescake that was sitting in the fridge for 4.00 Euro.
