We saw the Flowers exhibit & enjoyed it. It reminded me of Team Labs in Japan in that it engaged your sense of smell & sometimes used music to enhance the experience of seeing or interacting (the AI generated flowers room) with the art.
Highlights were seeing paintings by Kehinde Wiley (I loved his portrait of Obama so it was exciting to see other paintings of his up close), the black garden ( thought provoking and my favorite) & the last room with the blooming flower lamps. My children loved the blooming flowers room the most. One can lie down on a leaf-shaped couch and stare up into soft light bulbs that blossom into colorful flowers. The flowers slowly open and close on repeat while you smell a sweet floral scent, feel a cool breeze, and listen to calm music. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable exhibit that they didn’t want to leave.
One thing to note: one staff member watched us on the cameras as we went though and when she thought my son was going to touch something in one of the exhibits (he was actually just pointing at the label to ask me to google translate it), she appeared out of nowhere and scolded him to back up and not touch. I get that she’s doing her job and get she perceived him to be touching so I don’t fault her. But this is a warning for parents as it feels unwelcoming for kids when she then trailed us for several more rooms to watch us.
The exhibits spit you into a bookstore and gift shop on the way out. We were watched closely again but I again don’t fault them as I’m sure people have stolen from them & we were carrying backpacks. I would’ve rather the museum let us store our backpacks somewhere and let us browse the shop in peace but we did ultimately purchase two room fragrances (found them to be pricey for being tiny and in plastic bottles) and novelties for the kids.
The exhibits were great and thoughtfully presented. I loved the diversity of the types of art shown. Free WiFi allows you to listen to audio guides of some of the works. My only suggestions for the organizers is to allow people to store their belongings if that helps them feel more at ease. And also to put ALL the items from the Museo Civico di Zoologia behind protective glass. The insect and butterflies are all in glass frames so the few items such as the humming birds which are out and exposed could be placed under glass domes for their protection while still allowing guests to see...
Read moreI stopped here on my way to Piazza Navona, located nearby.
The building was constructed during the Renaissance by architect Donato Bramante, who will become the biggest rival of Michelangelo. It’s a two-story building full of arches that enclose an internal open yard, which at the time of my visit was closed, being prepared for some upcoming exhibition.
It also includes the church of Santa Maria della Pace, which is very beautiful, and famous for its fresco “Le Sibille” of Raffaello Sanzio. The fresco can be seen from an amazingly painted room on the second floor of the Chiostro (Trappola d’Amore a Pleasure Palace).
Adjacent to this room there is also a small bistro, but I didn’t try it.
There was not too much too see, but it still was a nice break from my day-long walk in Rome. However, one day I’d love to visit again when there is...
Read moreI loved the location... I loved the interior and its surroundings. What I didn't like was that they only had soya milk as an alternative. I cannot digest neither cow's milk nor soya milk very well... So ,I had to go for coca-cola (which I kinda wanted tbh). You see, in the Czech Republic - we no longer have coca-cola with sugar, but in Italy they do and it's so yummy! My friend got a regular cappuccino as you can see in the picture... well, some people would think that they would try and do some latte art... I kinda consider it to be "a must" nowadays... but well... not everyone can be bothered to do it I guess... The service was alright. I regret not buying a ticket to see the exhibition... because when I wanted to go and buy it, there was a huuugeee queue... out of nowhere...such a shame :( Others should definitely go for it tho! it...
