Visited this place as four American tourists randomly. The bald man behind the counter took our orders and bade us to sit down and enjoy our food. He didnāt ask for money until we were comfortable and done eating. Granted, he was also quite busy with customers coming in for lunch and other tourists so he wasnāt really in a position to Settle the bill anyways.
We ended up buying three Paniniās and one plate of cured meat with pecorino. The price was very fair, at least compared to what I could get back home in Seattle (ā¬75 for three paninis, a caprese pack, a plate of prosciutto & salumi & pecorino, five peach teas, and a whole salumi for me to take home to Seattle).
As an American tourist with a very weak grasp of Italian, I did not get the feeling that the man behind the counter was rude at all. Reading the reviews of other patrons before posting my own, it feels that people can mistake a Stoic disposition as rudeness when in reality itās just a man a work. Not a lot of bullshit and hustle, just a man taking my order, serving me, and smiling at the end. Hell, compared to the attitude people in Seattle can have towards me with a tip and a smile, I would welcome this manās attitude any day of the week.
I would recommend this place to anyone in my family and friends group, and I invite anybody reading this review to do the same. I like this place, and I think Iāll bring my family here when I come...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe bought some salamis at this shop one late afternoon. We wanted to get some more before our travel so revisited the shop the following day around the same time. It was closed. We checked the hours here and realized itās only (08-13h) so figured out that the man (guess owner) was there out of hours by chance. We were really keen on buying the stuff so went back this morning (Friday), the day of our continuation trip (got up really early and walked there for 30 min), arrived at 8.50am and it was CLOSED again. We said letās wait a little bit, the man might have gone out for coffee and will soon open. So he showed up at 9am, we were really happy to see him as we thought that finally weāll be able to buy what we wanted. Upon me addressing him he showed with his hands a motion of ācome back laterā, not even saying hello or anything. Iāve told him that we were already there yesterday afternoon and that we just came for the salami and that we are leaving soon but he didnāt care at all just said ā10 oāclockā, Iāve repeated ābut this is our second time to comeā however he didnāt give a toss and went back to his car to get something, Total disrespectfulness towards the customer (repeat customer) and rudeness. We went away with a feeling that he doesnāt deserve the sale and weāre way more happy to spend our money at another Salumeria which...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHorrible experience. If you donāt speak Italian perfectly donāt even try. I can speak a little. I entered and a very annoyed man rolled his eyes and began to take my order. He assumed I wanted a panini, but all I wanted was some prosciutto cut fresh.
I asked for solo prosciutto and how much he would serve me. He said 4⬠very annoyed. He didnāt even check to see if what he was cutting was what i wanted.
He began to wrap up the order and I wanted to see how much he gave me(and to see what he was cutting on the slicer) in case I wanted more, but when I looked, I realized he had given me the wrong type of prosciutto, it was deli meat, ham.
I understand in Italian it means the same, but he shouldāve assumed that in American tourist wants the traditional prosciutto or at least asked me!
I said oh no, gesturing that was not what I wanted to order, he threw it to the counter and said āthank you have a nice day. I will help the next customer.ā.
So rude! I left feeling like I wanted to cry.
I actually came here, six months earlier, and I came today to give it a second chance, but the owner is still just as rude and horrible as he was...
