Avoiding Scam: beware of hidden charges and poor service
Upon questioning the unexpected charge for bread, the staff defended it by claiming their focaccia was merely "cheeseless pizza." This contradicts the basic understanding that Italian restaurants traditionally offer complimentary bread with unlimited refills.
The staff's attitude was also shockingly unprofessional. When I politely inquired about the bread surcharge, three restaurant staff raised their voices at me, including the one who served me, which created a hostile environment that should never accompany a dining experience.
The attitude displayed by the staff was outright appalling. Their demeanor towards guests was nothing short of dismissive and rude. It's evident that customer service is not a priority here.
As for the food itself, it was far from impressive. Mediocre would be an overstatement; some dishes were borderline disgusting, lacking the quality one would expect from an Italian restaurant.
What truly irked me was the unexpected service fee of £1 per person. So, the surcharge including the bread amounted to an extra £10. Having traveled extensively across Europe, including Italy, I've never encountered such a blatant attempt to nickel-and-dime tourists. In most reputable establishments, bread is complimentary, not an excuse for an additional charge.
The only saving grace was the quality of the drinks, which were surprisingly good. However, even this cannot overshadow the overall disappointment of the experience.
In conclusion, I advise potential patrons to exercise caution when dining at Cybo. Be wary of hidden fees, subpar service, and misleading menu descriptions. There are far better options in Rome to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine without the unnecessary hassle and...
Read moreBefore going a little bit out of my way to get to Cabo, I read a few of the most recent t reviews. Please don’t believe them. Sure, they ciiid have gone during an evening when the very odd looking guy at the front wasn’t actively trying to badger people into coming into the restaurant. And sure, he might have actually seated others away from smokers instead of literally right next to them. Or maybe other reviewers got his attention, such as the two young girls who arrived after me, yet got so much more attebtion, despite me repeatedly saying ‘prego’ multiple times. And yes, I do speak Italian, though he seemed to want yo ignore that in favour of his own limited English. Yes, the limoncello sortie was nice. The bruschetta was delightful. And they were very reasonably priced for Rome. When I finally decided to get up and pay after failing for 20 mins or so to get him to come over and take my food order, despite me telling him from the start that I wanted food because I was very hungry and hadn’t eaten lunch, and it was almost 6pm, he just looked at me with a shocked Pickachu face and asked what was wrong. I let him know. He didn’t seem that phased, nor did he apologise. His colleagues asked me what the problem was, and I let him know. To his credit, the colleague offered to comp me. I refused. I didn’t want to be seen as some freelaoder. But man, this place was utterly, completely overrated. I went somewhere else very nearby and was treated the complete...
Read moreIt is frustrating that a dinner that could have been perfect was so undervalued by the main dish, which was the filetto. The cocktails were great also for the price, specially the Hemingwey. The pasta was very tasty and the price could have been a bit higher, I would have still payed it. But the filetto was clearly overpriced. I personally had never felt so disgusted with a meat dish regarding price/quality, in special with such a good rating from previous clients. It is important to note that the 29 euro are ONLY for a small steak. Maybe the meat was good, but I have also eaten better ones. Besides, we had to pay 6 euro extra for a dish of baked potatoes as there was no side dish -i.e. salad or chips- included on the meat dish itself, which made 35 euro in total for the secondi. Then you expect something out of ordinary as it was also the most expensive meat secondi, and the solely extraordinary fact is the very small piece of meat alone on the dish surrounded by some lettuce. Both my partner and I finished hungry, but feared to ask for another secondi and finish equally frustrated. It was also too late to look for another restaurant. I would have complained but my partner stopped me several times. I would advice anyone else visiting this restaurant to directly avoid wasting these 29+x euro on that, there are much better options probably in their menu. I would also emphazise to ask for the weight of the meat piece before ordering it, as there was no...
