Here we go my first google review - if I could I would give them 0 stars TBH because I was shocked by the treatment of the staff.
We went to Fratelli Mori for dinner where we greeted the most grumpy waiter we ever met. Despite the terrace being almost fully empty he pushed us to the table inside of the restaurant cuz we didn’t have a reservation (side note - also after an hour there were many tables free at the terrace so I didn’t understand what’s the deal?). Plates of food were just thrown on the table without any words - very rude. The same grumpy waiter even burped while passing by while my husband was eating. Wow. But the icing on the cake was that my pizza never arrived (after 40 of waiting in an empty restaurant). Guests coming way after us were getting their pizzas so I asked the waiter what happened with my order. When asking the waiter it was obvious that he forgot about it. He went to check in the kitchen but never came back to inform me when pizza will be ready. After an hour of waiting (and my husband eating since he did receive what he ordered) I asked to get the bill and pay. That is the point when the waiter came with the pizza in the box to take away? Obv he also had the pizza on the bill . This I kindly declined. Bottom line , I was under impression that they do use good ingredients and place looks nice but oh man the service ruins it all - especially if u don’t even get what u ordered. We’ve been a full week in Rome and never (not even at super cheap restaurants) did we experience this level of rudeness and inability to serve guests in an attentive manner. It’s crazy. Avoid this place at any cost. If u re already spending money better go to Porto Fluviale or Pizzerias on that same street , very upbeat and great service and food. Another tip would be Remo a Testaccio- cheap but super authentic and great quick service despite their inability to speak English - very...
Read moreHuge disappointment After booking over a month ago for our last night in Rome, we arrived to a lovely Italian rustic restaurant which was starting to get busy, we were taken to side room with no one in away from the main restaurant. I asked for us to seated in the main room but were declined saying “only reservations???” We had made a reservation !!! We sat in this side room all night on our own .. why ?
We ordered our starters and mains and waited over 30 minutes, my wife ordered a rigatoni with mozzarella and tomato and then had to pick the meat out as it didn't say it came with meat. My rigatoni had three huge bones in it which put me off completely, my son enjoyed his carbonara
Our water and wine glasses became empty and I had track down the waitress who could not understand we wanted more drinks - all our glasses were empty. I could not speak Italian and she could not speak a word of English but not understanding we wanted more drinks when we showed her all our empty glasses?? She went and got the other waiter who sorted us out.
After waiting over another 30 minutes, my steak arrived, greasy, fatty and not rested but was seasoned nicely, the salad was not dressed either. My potato, pecorino and pepper side order never even arrived
At no point throughout the meal were we asked how the meal was
We were so fed up my wife walked into the restaurant asking for the bill as again we had just been forgotten
As we left a table of 12 arrived in the small room we were put in - why were put there ? As we left the main restaurant was half empty. We sat in silence and on our own all evening where we could have been in the main restaurant in the lovely atmosphere
We left to see the owner in the picture on the website on his mobile. Perhaps he needs to get back in his restaurant and look after his customers !!
Really disappointing
Sad end to a lovely...
Read moreThis is one of the “must visit” restaurants in Rome. Located in the neighborhood Ostiense, it is a very spacious restaurant, rustic, classic, an upscale tone without being snobbish.
It is run by a family, mother and two sons, and was started by the father 20 years ago.
The food is very good, this is one of the most popular restaurants in Rome. The cuisine is traditional Roman and they do that perfectly.
I had a great amatriciana and my wife the carbonara (these are two dishes you need to have while visiting Rome), but they have plenty of choices to pick from. Our friend have the agnello scottadito, very good too.
Good wines are a must to accompany the great food of Italy and this place offers plenty of those and at very reasonable prices. Talking about prices, they are reasonable if you are Italian and if you live in the USA like my wife and I they are just amazing, considering in South Florida a normal burger would cost more than a great dish here.
One thing though: we might want to place a reservation, especially for dinners on Fridays and Saturdays, this place is busy and attracts hordes of locals.
