I took the Masterclass and it was a great experience (I'm not really a wine person but might become one after this). Learnt a bit about the wines in the region and about the history of the Vernaccia, but it was a relatively short intro, just enough to provide some background. Then we moved to the perfume room and smelt some notes that we would later try to find in the wines, which was also really interesting. Tasted 6 different wines after this, with enough time to compare between them and try pairings with food. I thought that 6 was a good selection, any more and it would become more difficult to make comparisons between them. A good amount of each wine was provided as well, proper glasses rather than just tiny bits to taste. I asked for vegetarian food options just before the tour and there was no problems with it but the website asks that you provide this info at time of booking so maybe don't risk it like I did :) After the 2 hours were up, we could take the wine and food we were left with to the terrace and take our time enjoying everything for as long as we wanted (the view from the terrace is...
Read moreI would have loved to go to this experience. I tried to book it on my phone outside the winery, Because they don't have a desk, you go to it via a QR code. I tried multiple times to book and it kept saying I couldn't book or my cc would not process. I left and got back to the hotel to 2 emails saying I booked twice. I got in touch with them immediately to explain what happened and they accused me of holding 4 places from other people. They refunded one of the transactions but not both. I contacted them again and they again said I took up 4 places that other people could have had and refused to credit me the other booking that was 60 euros. I would not book this online as the system seems very shady. I was in Italy for 5 weeks and never had a problem like this with many other excursions or experiences that I booked...
Read moreWhat a lovely location to imbibe a small glass of vino and I mean small. The view however was huge and hmm so was the cost of the wine. Sorry but 8 euros for the reds we tried, frankly, they are overcharging. They indicated they provide 110 ml but as far as I'm concerned they were short pours. As a former bar manager I know how much one should charge per glass to break even and also to make a profit, I did observe the server topped up a few customers without charge (they were white wine though)! I don't want to take away from our server, who was quite pleasant but... I recommend the view. I don't recommend buying any wine from this location. Just go and...
