This restaurant and the people running it are the definition of Italian hospitality for me. Feels like a family. First of all I want to praise the sommelier; she recommended 4 glasses of local white wine to me with the various dishes and they were all spot on, interesting and generously pored. The food is well presented and more importantly very tasty. I was surprised by the large portion of risotto which to my eternal shame I couldn’t finish. Normally in Italy the portion is smaller to keep space for a main course. Unfortunately the octopus was finished otherwise I would have (also) had this in addition to my two starters (baccala and tonno in chianti). Loved the fact that when I left as one of the last guests the manager dat down with the sommelier to have their meal. Perfect evening, highly recommended and will return one day with the family.

It's a charming cozy restaurant with elevated food and really warm staff. Probably one of the top 2 restaurants in our 12 day trip to italy. Located a bit away from the main foot traffic of san gimignano, this place feels like a secret spot tucked away in this castle town like a hidden alcove or tunnel side entrance that was converted into a restaurant. I had the risotto and it was fragrant, light and creamy. Some of the other risottos in Italy I had was too crunchy and didn't appeal to my tastes, but this was perfect. Their local tuscan wine was excellent even though I'm not a fan of white wine normally I have to admit that it went very well with the food. Overall the decor was great, the food tasty and the service the best we had in Italy. Definitely you would be remiss if you went to San Gimignano and didn't stop for food here.

This is an absolute gem in San Gimignano! When in San Gimignano, we try to eat here, and share our experience with other travelers, family, friends in San Gimignano. We even met the chef behind the beautiful dishes, and she was surprised we kept the pictures of all the food🤭 An absolute recommendation is their risotto that is on the menu since the nineties, but don’t forget to try the pasta with pear, pecorino saffron sauce🥹 A dessert we absolutely loved, but they do not make it here anymore: was the cheesecake(this one is seasoned based, we understood) and the chocolate namelaka! I included the pictures of these desserts. They also offer a great wine selection from their wine cellar. So if you are around, love Italian food, but want it more special, this is the place for you❤️

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience here. My girlfriend grew up in this region and wanted me to experience some of her favorite local dishes. I had the pisi alla aglione and a boar dish for the second plate. The pasta is a fairly basic tomato, basil and garlic dish which I’ve had over a dozen times since I’ve been in Italy. This one was hardly edible. The boar was not as bad as the pasta, but also not enjoyable to eat. I ended up sending both plates back. My girlfriend had the seafood pasta, which also was not very good. Our friend had the boar pasta, which seemed better but not great. When asked how the food was, we were honest. And as I mentioned, we sent the boar and my pasta back. The manager was very friendly and apologetic, but we still ended up getting charged for the boar. It hasn’t happened much in Italy. But when you don’t like the food at a nice restaurant, they usually take it back no questions asked and it doesn’t show up on the bill. The reviews are good here and the interior design is very beautiful. But this felt like a...

The best meal ive had in many years, and i live and dine in Paris and Los Angeles. Had the “traditional” tasting menu: liver mouse on toasted brioche, risotto with wild boar, shaved zucchini, parmesan cream and fresh black truffle, braised wild boar (shoulder?) on pureed potatoes, panna cotta with raspberry coulis. Every course was a home-run, memorable. I never understood the appeal of risotto until i had theirs. I went back the same day for dinner and had the seafood tasting menu. If you only have one meal in Italy make it their “traditional” tasting menu. A special mention of their dark five grain bread which is freshly baked every day. The only tasty bread i had during 14 days in Italy. The white bread most restaurants serve with meals is notably flavorless. Im not including focaccia which is commonly served in Liguria which is delicious. Super warm service. The owner comped my wine at dinner because he recognized...

Firstly we loved Gloria’s service. we purchased the journey experience for €65 each which we had 5 dishes including desert. The 4 dishes of food we had were nice sized portions which we felt were not worth the €65 price tag. It also took 2 hour for the 4 few bite portions to be delivered to us which were not explained to us what the dishes were. We ended up with a €180 bill which we said we were not comfortable paying the bill for- we felt embarrassed contesting the price of. They knocked off €20 for one of the bottles of wine we purchased but we really felt they should have reduced the price of the food and drive some more but we already felt embarrassed at asking them to take some money off the sub par experience that we just accepted the small discount. It’s such ashame because the staff service was so good but the food service and timing was very...
