⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A perfect meal — and truly kind people
We had such a wonderful experience here that I felt compelled to write this review. The food was excellent across the board — the minestrone soup in particular was exceptional (and we’ve been ordering minestrone every night this week, so we can confidently say this was the best!). The ravioli and mushroom pasta were also absolutely delicious, and even the house wine was the tastiest we’ve had during our time in Tuscany.
What I especially loved is that this is a place where you can get basic food done perfectly — beautifully made pasta, comforting flavors, and real care in the cooking. Many of the higher-rated restaurants in the area lean heavily toward complex meat dishes, but this was exactly what we were hoping for: simple, honest, and delicious.
On top of that, the kindness of the staff went above and beyond. They let us sit inside before they even opened so we could relax, and when we unexpectedly couldn’t find a taxi back to Siena, they helped us contact a company and even spoke to them in Italian on our behalf — truly saving the evening for us.
We left feeling not just well fed but genuinely cared for. If you’re visiting San Gimignano, I can’t recommend this...
Read moreYou have to get off the main street of San Gimignano and walk on the parallel street up the hill. We chanced upon it while looking for a place with good pizza. And we were not disappointed. It's quite big inside, but there are enough tables on the street to make you feel part of the neighborhood while watching people walk past on the old narrow street. We had pizza, the house special, which had shaved truffles, radicchio, Parma ham, all very, very delicious, but the star of show was the dough and crust. It was somewhat thick, but very fluffy and springy inside, but the bottom was crispy, crunchy from the ends to the very center. One of the best I've had in my life. If you go, the owner will give you a post card that allows you to get 15% off the next time you visit, and we did. Again, the pizza was otherworldly. The pasta dishes were also good, but again, the pizza is worth the trip. Not all the waitstaff spoke English, but enough did to make it easy to order and ask questions about the menu to...
Read moreWe recently visited Osteria Baccano and had an absolutely delightful experience. Our group of four ordered a variety of pasta dishes along with a carpaccio appetizer, and every single dish was a hit.
Pasta Perfection
The pasta was the true star of the meal. Each of the four pasta dishes was uniquely delicious, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. The quality of the ingredients was evident, particularly in the rich, creamy sauces and the perfectly cooked pasta.
Carpaccio Delight
The carpaccio was equally impressive, fresh and flavorful, complementing the pasta dishes wonderfully.
Great Value
The price-to-quality ratio was spot on, making it not just a culinary delight but also a great value. We left the restaurant completely satisfied and eager to return.
In summary, Osteria Baccano offers an authentic Italian dining experience with excellent food and reasonable prices. Highly...
