[THE POISONED PUB] I have visited more than 40 escape rooms so far, this sadly did not make it into the top 30.

About the puzzles
This is one of those rooms where an evil entity tries to end your existance but gives you one last chance to "prove yourself" and safe your live. As a story concept this is fine and it gives the game designers a little freedom, because everything is part of a twisted game and does not need to make sense within a bigger story line.
After the introduction audio that explains as much, we were lost as what to do at first. There was no obvious starting point. We did find it after a few minutes though, so that was fine. After we solved the first puzzle, there was a rather satisfying pop that gave away the next puzzle (which was a chess puzzle). We were lost again later in the game. The story does not guide you at all.
I have not yet played a single escape game where the chess puzzle made any sense storywise (I've heard of one, so they exist). This did not make sense as a chess puzzle. Period. Knowing the chess rules made the puzzle harder. We asked after the game, and the game master (who was nice, and answered all questions we had) said that they knew that, but sometimes children play there and that's why they don't expect people to know chess - but knowing the chess rules made it basically impossible for us to solve, on top of that it was kind of a tedious "riddle" to begin with.
Then there was a poker puzzle which in retrospect had a solution that "made sense" in a way but was harder to find if you knew how poker works.
Then there was a puzzle that showed you that you did something wrong (by showing "GAME OVER") even when you were doing it correctly. We somehow stumbled upon a "bug" and solved it with only 4/5ths of the sequence.
The last puzzle we could solve before our 60 minutes were up did not work properly, as we had the correct solution but the electronics did not react to it.
This actually saved us from needing to solve a crossword puzzle. I mean, come on...
About the atomsphere
There was a story about someone who poisioned you. However this story got lost really quickly and did not matter in the end. There were no callbacks or reminders for that. There was no excitement that lingered when solving the puzzles.
The room itself looked pretty decentish. We we're told to be very careful and not move anything because the electronics could break and also that there are locks that are not there to solve but for the game masters to reset. This is fine but I think its part of the designers job to hide such things and make the game more immersive.
When our time ran out the game was done, no overtime. Makes sense, since we were dead :P

I ragazzi sono stati super disponibili a darci una mano per combinare una sorta di sorpresa per la festeggiata e ci hanno guidato nel migliore dei modi all'interno della trama proposta "Poisoned Pub". Enigmi assolutamente non banali e sfidanti al punto giusto. Esperienza super positiva e non vediamo l'ora di poter provare la nuova Room in arrivo!
