Itsuki Garden — Restaurant in Kamakura

多くの鎌倉市民にとって、 樹ガーデンは、 誇れる自慢の場所であると同時に、 そっと隠しておきたいような宝です。

少なくとも、私にとってはそうでした。

ずっと北鎌倉からハイキングコースを家族で歩いてきて、 突然現れた、山の中のカフェ。 白と赤ストライプの、大輪の花というべきパラソルがそこかしこに花開き、 緑の中に、日本離れした、 レンガ積みの壁と道が広がる…。

オーナーが同志と二人で手づくりで 作りあげたなんて、 ちょっと信じ難いほどの、 山の景観と形状を活かしきった、 美しすぎる、驚きの天空カフェ。

メニューもなかなか豊富で、 昔のハリウッド女優の名前を冠した ノンアル？カクテルなどもありました。 老いも若きも楽しめた、 緑のパラダイスガーデン。

もう、なんか素晴らしすぎて、 賛辞の言葉も底をついてしまうほど。

そんな、1人の個人の情熱から生まれた、 他に類を見ない、山の中のカフェが、 樹ガーデンでした。

それがなんと、閉店するはめになり…。

ここを愛してやまない地元民の1人としては、暗澹たる思いにとらわれたものです。

これほどのよそにはない宝を、 もう鎌倉文化遺産の1つといってもいい位の素晴らしい場所を、私達は、 みすみす失ってしまうのだろうか…と。

〜そして、ついに、やはりというべきなのか、 閉店を余儀なくされた樹ガーデンは、 再び私たちのもとに、 不死鳥のごとく、少し姿を変えながらも、舞い戻ってくれたのデス🥰

After visiting the amazing Buddha of Kamakura, we continued walking until we found the beginning of a trekking trail with some temples along the way.

We thought it was a good idea to go up as we were quite energetic. As we went up the tiredness became a little evident until, at a high part of the trail, we saw a small sign with an arrow. It definitely called our attention so we continued on this new path, the surprise was incredible. Like finding an oasis in the desert, we saw a coffee shop in the middle of all the forest and nature, as in a story.

There are several tables and each one has a spectacular view; it gives you the feeling that you are in a huge forest.

We only asked for a coffee/tea as we were not hungry, but if it was worth taking something to recharge a little energy. The attention was very good, but honestly it is in the background because the main prize was the location and...

We spotted this cafe on Google Maps while hiking the Daibutsu Trail. After reading other reviews about how it can be accessed from the trail, we decided to give it a go. We had to wait a while but they were quite organized and we didn’t have to wait that long! The food is a little pricey but it was quite good and the view is nice. It’s a nice break in a leisurely hike, and the eating space is all outdoors so it’s great when the weather is good. They’ll warn you about kites (tonbi) which may steal your food but thankfully we...
