Very unwelcoming. Too expensive. The garden is beautiful, but the visit is all about the explanation of the garden. No explanation in english is given at all. Not even a written paper, which is also only in Japanese. Nevertheless, the guides English works very well, when it comes to explain all that is not allowed. Don’t go, if you are not fluent in Japanese. Also don’t go with children. There are many more welcoming...

At Y1,200 I think I prefer his temples such as Tofuku-ji, Zuiho-in, but the garden is good - packed with rocks! The guy running the tour was a bit officious. Also the Noguchi lanterns are not lit up - which defeats the purpose if it a bit. You must call first to check the schedule. The number is on...

My mistake, thought this was the gardens. 1000 yen entry, by appointment only, all in Japanese & only two rooms & a small zen garden. Unless you're areal follower I'd say give it a miss. The actual Shigemori gardens at Tofukuji Temple only cost 500 yen & there's far...
