Cerchio — Restaurant in Kyoto

Given that the chocolate muffin I bought this morning was moist and delicious, I'd love to give this shop 4 stars instead of 3. The only thing I took back a star is all staff seemed so off when I entered the shop. It was 9 am, 1 hour after its opening time yet only muffins are available on the rack. The staff were at the back room (presumably kitchen) talking about something and no one seemed to realize a customer came in. No greetings, no welcoming gestures, no one served as cashier, not even a thank you. Weird, considering Japan is well-known for its politeness and this could be the first time this kinda thing happened to me after years...

For me (as a German) the best bakery in Kyoto. They have both Japanese and Western style bakery goods, so this is the place to go for Europeans who crave for a rye bread, delicious focaccia or crispy baguette. If you come after 1 pm, you will often find bread or pastries fresh from the oven and still warm. Their pastries are not too sweet, but they lack a bit of vegetarian savoury choice. I went at 10.30am. The display was half full, I can hear they are still busy preparing at the back. I got the cinnamon donut, the sugar donut, the square choco bread. Everything was good and good price too. There were only a few customers beside me. My favourite is the square choco bread. Because of the price I think I bought too many.
