Kyoto University Yoshida Residence — Local services in Kyoto

Thank you, Yoshida Dorm, for making my experience in Kyoto so fulfilling! This place made me feel so happy and motivated, as it’s a historical and symbolic site of resistance. I could sense the liberal vibe and noticed their political activism through the paintings and signs around the dorm.

I visited during the New Year holidays and discovered they were hosting a New Year concert. To be honest, I only know a few Japanese words, but I truly enjoyed it and was deeply touched by the music and the atmosphere!

It is Kyoto University's student dormitory, which is operated in Coop form. From history perspective, it is probably the oldest student dormitory, in Japan, which does go through renovation for its interior facilities.

Of course you would live in quite a dirty place, with ducks, mice, chickens and probably other things but with a very active community.
