Rakushisha is a unique place, but my visit was only mediocre, hence the 3-star rating. The thatched cottage itself is quite interesting and has a historic charm, and I appreciated the peaceful garden setting. It's a quiet place, good for a moment of reflection away from the busier temples.

However, compared to other gardens and historical sites in Kyoto, I found the garden a little disappointing. The garden is tranquil, but not particularly expansive or visually impressive. The inside of the cottage is quite small, and there wasn't much information in English, which limited my understanding and appreciation. It's a nice place if you're specifically interested in haiku poetry or want a very quiet, low-key experience, but otherwise it's perhaps not a highlight of...

Beautiful. A quiet hut that has been preserved as if time never passed. Few to no tourists. Not far from the bamboo forest and an amazing spot to spend a few minutes in meditation.
