Hello,
I am a photographer and author of articles on Japan. yesterday in Matsushima. (Oct 22, 2022)
So I visit important sites in Japan and write articles about them. But also give my opinion on places to visit on social networks.
I just visited the place Zuiganji Temple and its Seiryūden Museum.
I find it interesting, but disappointed...
It is time for the organizers or managers of temples and museums to take responsibility for the translation of certain places.
It is unacceptable that a museum like yours is not translated into English (which is the minimum) I'm talking about the windows and the explanatory panels in front of each object, the brochures and books at the reception and which should be the testimony of your past...
Or simply multilingual audioguide headsets that will lead visitors through the collections in a very original way. It will travel through your ancestors' time at their own pace.
How do you expect tourists from distant lands to understand the history of the place if they don't have a minimum of information? I think it's disrespectful to tourists from all over the world and not only make you money, but come for nothing!!!

The museum exhibits various cultural assets of Zuigan-ji Temple, including treasures that have been handed down since before the temple was named "Zuigan-ji Temple," which is its current name. The museum exhibits many treasures designated as important cultural properties, including Buddhist statues, a reclining image of Buddha, and letters. The museum is open to visitors with the admission fee to the main hall and the kori (temple treasury), so it is definitely worth a visit. For the protection of cultural properties, photography is basically prohibited for all exhibits, and the lighting in the museum is dark. Be especially careful when ascending and descending the stairs. The museum has an elevator for going up and down, which can be easily used by people with disabilities such as wheelchairs. Despite the relatively compact exterior of the building, there are many exhibits. A thorough visit would take more than an hour. Most of the exhibits are unique to this temple or related to the Date family, so visitors should not expect to see exhibits that relate to historical events or people in Japan as a whole, even though this is an ancient temple representing the Tohoku region. In addition, most of the exhibits are written only in Japanese, which may be a bit tedious for...
